Default Square peg round hole (correct zif socket needed?)

Hello all,

Im chipping a p28 ecu but cant find the correct zif socket to fit into the 28pin DIL socket. The zif socket I have has vertical blades whereas the DIL socket hs round holes. Does anyone know where I can buy a zif socket with round pins?

Thanks

I see what you're saying, after looking again. Actually, I'm pretty sure they're all like that. All that I've seen anyway. You can get a leaf socket instead and replace the socket you have, but the ZIF socket is meant to be soldered directly into the ECU.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I was meant to solder the 28pin DIL socket to the ECU board then the ZIF socket press fits on top of that, well that is how I understood the guide I was following. I do have a 28pin DIL leaf socket soldered to the board at the moment but the holes on that are horizontal and the pins on the ZIF socket are vertical. So I ordered a 28pin DIL socket with round holes and that didnt accept the pins on the ZIF socket also.

I would go ahead and just solder the ZIF directly onto the ECU board but the lever gets in the way of some of the components. Im wondering if one of the blue or black low profile ZIF sockets are designed differently. I shall try one of them and see

Thanks for your help

I see. That's odd. I've never had one not fit. Perhaps you did just get the wrong one. Good luck!
