i have a 91 crx si as stated in the title and i have an aftermarket tach by autometer. it's a sport-comp and it says monster under sport-comp.

somebody wired it differently and its weird but there are 4 wires coming out:

red
white
green
black

what do these wire up to? red goes to 12v and black to ?? white? green is ground? idk...

 

i can assume that red is CONSTANT 12v, black is ground, white or green can either be the switch to turn the back light on, and the other is signal...

Monster tachs are nice... i had one.. im almost 100% positive that white is for the switch.. wire that to your headlights (well, the switch that turns your head lights off and on), and green is signal, and goes to the green wire on your dizzys plug (the only one with 2 wires).. The tach signal is the thick blue one.. im pretty sure its blue..

 

actually i just opened it up and its not re-wired all the wires i listed are straight from the tach but there are 2 orange and 2 brown wires all cut. they are super small.

 

ok.. then wire them how i listed.. that should work for you..

 

yeah, i think the brown wires are for v8 use.

 

i don't have a thick blue wire.

and can i wire the signal to the back of my cluster so i don't have to fish any wires through my firewall?

 

yes you can wire it to the back of the cluster.

that wire is on the dizzy... if you look at the dizzy, you will see 2 plugs from the harness going into it.. one with HELLA wires, and one with only 2 wires..

The smaller one with 2 wires has 2 thick wires, one black (i think), and one blue.. or green.. its the lighter of the 2 on that plug.. im almost positive its blue, but i looked real quick online and couldnt find any pics..

Oh yeah.. feeding it through the firewall is actually alot easier than tearing the cluster out.. lol.. in my experience, anyway..
