Default clutch and breaks gone

Hey,
i bought this 93 manual civic a few weeks ago, everything was pretty good minus a loud rusty exhaust and weak heater only at level 4

anyways, 3 days ago my breaks started to go out and now only works on the first pump or 2 then just dont work unless its pressed way in and just slides

it has been snowing the past few days
and this mourning after we hit below 0 degrees with wind (Chicago)

i get in my car and push the clutch in 2 start the car, starts fine but the clutch stays all the way down and wont let me shift into any gears
i have to pull the clutch back out and after pushing it half way it just sinks all the way in

any ideas?

im hoping i dont have 2 do a trans flush cause its f'n cold and itll be to much work and too long to get it to my house garage

i checked the reservoirs in the back right of the engine (right in front of the driver) the one on the far right seems to be empty and the one just on the left had some fluid in there, what are each of them for?

The smaller one is for the clutch. The larger one is for the brakes. They're supposed to be full of fluid between the "max and min" lines. You need fluid in there. The brakes and the cluch are both hydraulic systems...and they're sealed. So if the fluid's going somewhere, then it's probably leaking. Find the leak, fix it, fill up the fluid and bleed the clutch and brakes.

so how can i find the leak, i filled up the resevoir, and it wont even go down
not sure where the bleeder is as well for the 93
and howdo i know its not a bad clutch master or slave

also with the brake fluid full how do i trouble shoot that not working

symptoms could be the cold and i was trying to keep the rpm low between 1.5 and 2, maybe too low?

The cold does not affect the breaks or the clutch in that way.. U need to take it somewhere if u don;t know what u r doing because the systems get complicated. First and for most u need to bleed both systems and make 200% sure all the air is out of the lines.

bleed it. if it still doesn't work. Squeeze the rubber right by where the line goes to the tranny if it leaks out the slave cylinder is bad.

Yes if ur brakes don't work properly and u can't stop like ur suppose to b able to, think of all the crazy f*k'd up things that could happen!! Look at what the head line of the thread is "clutch and Brakes gone". Do I always have to explain things in kindergarden terms!.. So Matt I don't know where that comment came from about ur 240's diff.

you wouldnt have to pump the pedals all the time just open the valves and let the fluid bleed out of them called gravity bleeding just make sure the master cylinders stay full at all times and get no water in them the slave cylinder is on the tranny kind of by the radiator fan and the brakes are on the two front calipers and the rear ones are on the wheel cylinders

i replaced the slave and master, its shifting again
but the clutch just floats untill halfway but shifts perfect
bleed more?
and do you need 2 bleed through the slave or through the trans or both?
i bled through the slave after i replaced everything?
