Icon6 vtec not working, any help

car is a 96 civic ex
i put in a fresh brand new single cam mini me y7/y8 in my car and vtec is not working. this been going on for about 2 months now, i dont smash on the streets, only on freeways. could it be my distributor? its not mounted right (tilted) but it still runs good and strong. any suggestion why vtec isnt working? my ecu has many error codes from my old single v. how could i reset the ecu?

CELs will not let vtec work.
unplug the battery ground....wait...then hook it back up and check your CELs again. what are your codes?

did you wire up your ecu for vtec? cuz if you didn get a new ecu then i wouldn think vtec would crack. cuz if you had non v then slapped a vtec head on it wouldn crack unless you got the correct ecu and solenoid.

ebay has $40 msd rpm activater switches..
you put the rpm pill in whereever you want it to pop
but...it doesnt add fuel etc. the other stuff that happens when vtec pops.
it just makes the hydrlic sliders slide..it feels dif but pretty snapping on a minime
i had 5k on a minime

wut DOHCtorEK said! U need to wire that **** up.

I did mine n put the blue wire to the yellow port, red wire to the blue port and jus ran the yellow one to ground (think i used a screw somewhere under there). I sprayed some oil on it to giv it a good connection.

good luckk

Double check your codes is the first thing before you do anything.

Take your car to a Advance Auto and ask them to plug the OBD2 diagnostics machine to it, they will tell you what's the problem. Did I mention it's FREE....well yeah it's free then ask them to reset them once which is also free.

Also check your Speedo sensor plug, if the contacts looks coroided then you need to clean them and ensure a good contact. My Vtec did not work cause of one wire that was corroded but my speedo still worked and no CEL.

if you cannot find the solution, then take the solenoid off and check if it needs cleaning, or its broken
