Post supercharge or turbo b18c

just a question would you guy put a jackson super charger or just turbo a
b18c i see alot with turbo's that make good hp for dd's but why does nobody hardly ever put superchargers on them because it seems to be less parts no hard tuning . also the reason i ask is im looking to get around 250 to 300 to the wheels as a dd but is that visable numbers to look for .

It depends on what you are doing with the car. Superchargers take away from the cars input power and turbos take what the car is already expelling, exhaust. Superchargers are going by the way side and it is easier to find parts for turbos. I want to see someone do a squires turbo on a civic. Ha ha.

Turbos are much more efficient than superchargers. Also, if the supercharger does not have a low rpm bypass valve, you will be wasting a lot more gas at lower rpm with the blower as compared to the turbo.

I would think that a S/C would be good for a DD especially since hes only goin for 250 whp.. i would rather have the low end torque of a SC for daily driving considering its a pain to rev out to 5 grand to get the car moving especially since most honda vtec motors are already like that

heres a dyno of a JRSC GSR .. the charger added 58 more whp at 8,000 rpm and added 38 more lb. ft. of torque and the torque is 20 lb. ft. over stock from 2,000 rpm and up.. just seems like it would be more fun to have a SC for DD then a turbo kit

http://www.supercharger.com/Customer...ntegragsr2.gif
(car has DC header, cat back exhaust, and an intake - all basic mods)

this kit doesnt get to 250 whp but thats bc its only running 6 psi - with the higher output kit it says to expect 20% more HP and TQ so that should be around 41 more hp and 30 more lb. ft. of torque - so your numbers would be right where you want them at 249 whp and 183 lb. ft.

hope all this information helps with your decision - and i know i didnt give any turbo info but thats bc IMO i would go with the SC hopefully someone can add some valuable turbo info to help you decide as well

GL bro!

like was referred to earlier, the power may be there for DD so to say, but the gas mileage on a SC is also usually a bit lower. The SC requires fuel constantly as it spins with the crank. A turbo only requires the fuel when it spools and builds the pressure. I have lways like turbos over SC setups n low displacement simply because the power output is that much better and its more efficient. just my thoughts.

both... haha twin charged would be sick! superchargers are always on, they eat mileage especially in town driving ( my 2 did...) turbos tend to be always broken unless you spend 10 g or more

i would move this to the fi forum, but it has been covered before, and i would lock it there as well, i am going to answer, but you are asked to look for your answers.

IF you decide to go super over turbo, stay away from centrifugals, they make peak power at peak rpm, and thats about it because they make more boost as the engine spins higher.

the jackson style makes great low end, but sacrifives up top. there are mods you can do to it to work better, but:

imho, the best bang for the buck is a PROPERLY SIZED TURBO for your goals.
if your goals are realistic, and good where you list them, you will have no problem making that on a stock internal engine with a good tune.

you dont need a baller turbo either.

back before i knew anything about engine management, i built a 9:1 with rods b16 and at 6 psi pig rich with an fmu made 230. way more power could have been made.

we did it with a shelf drag kit with a t04b.

so, look at your budget, hve a realistic goal, and get something to tune the car properly with. remember it is going to be a dd. with that said, you need it to go to work/school. every day.

locking because this is the wrong forum, but again, this has been covered in forced induction as well.

please visit the fi forum, and look at the faq's. it is a great place to start.
