hey i got a transmission from a 91/DA/LS integra from the junk yard i brought home and took the casing off to make sure i diddnt need to over haul it everything seemed fine so when igo to put the case back on it wont go all the way on i know theres the snap ring there on the top of the counter shaft but the casing wont go down low enough so i can snap it back into place does anyone have any idea wats it getting caught on or am i doing something wrong any help towards having this put back would be great thx
take the case back open, make sure all the parts are lined up right, then when closing shift through the gears and tap down with a rubber mallet. the open the snap-ring. and the rest of the way down, then i learned on here once its down flip the trans over and drop it slightly on a soft surface to seat the ring and mainshaft.
Elevate the trans so that the mainshaft can rest the entire way down in the clutch housing. Due to the enclosed ball bearings on the diff, you may just need to use a rubber mallet to gently get the trans housing to fall down far enough to the point where the clip can snap into place. You may also have to get a Philips-head screwdriver to select gears 1-2, or 3-4, to get the housing to fall down.
