Custom Front Motor Mount for H22!!!!
Whats up guys, i recently rebuilt my 94 accord coupe from the ground up in the past ten months. I have a JDM built and turboed H22. The front mount was always an issue in the past but i got around it. Now with the new setup im thinkin of making a custom solid front mount.
Does anyone think there would b any problems with making a plate to bolt to the engine block stock mount location and a plate to mount to the stock front mount cross member location and welding a rod or something to connect both plates?
I'm thinking it would be great cause it would be a solid mount which would be good for performance and i could care less about vibration.
Also, the rod mount would give me plenty of room for intercooler piping which is where my issue is.
Right now its all fits fine but i have a full core fluidyne rad and log manifold. The coupler on the compressor side of my turbo is hitting the rad fan when the engine shifts.

Yeah, it'll be fine. If you're on stock mounts the rest of the way there might be some extra stress on it and you might end up breaking something, but its worth a shot.
If you run the side and rear motor mounts as solid motor mounts with 70A or harder poly inserts, you dont need to run a front motor mount....fyi..
I run 80A and am still going to be running a solid front mount.
And polyurethane mounts are solid polyurethane, but they're by no means solid, I get movement out of my 80s

You will get maaaad vibration and end up cracking the are around the block where the mount is bolted up to. (ask how I know this ,go ahead, ask)

Dcfiver, so it's best when running solid aftermarket mounts (mine are ESP) it's best to just not use the front mount at all? Been wondering about this a lot since I did my swap, I just left the stock front mount in.
No, no, any atermarket mount will have some type of give to it. I used a solid steel mount for the front and ended up cracking the block.
damn that sucks about your block so would it be better to get the rear side and tranny mounts polyurethane and have the front either not on or stock?
I ran the back, side, and tranny polyurethane and My motor still tends to jump around for a bit. Mind you I'm pushing 320whp and am boosted, but I'm going with Innovative solid mounts for next season.
