03 accord auto shift selector cable?
I have a 2003 accord 4cyl auto. the motor ate a valve so i'm in the process of replacing it, my question is, how does the shift selector cable come off? i've done several motor swaps in the past but they were all on manual cars, so i've never had to remove one of these before. thanks in advance
anyone? i've looked around online but all the guides i've found simply say to remove it, they don't actually mention anything about how this is done. i'd appreciate any help that can be offered. if anyone knows where the information can be found i'd appreciate the info. thanks
Getting a service manual would help you tremendously with the swap, especially the factory service manual.
However, if you are trying to disconnect the cable only on the transmission side, remove the 2 bolts securing the shift cable holder (e.g., part no. 24 of the link) first, then remove the 3 bolts for the protective cover. Depending on where the car was produced, you either need remove a lock bolt and lock washer and then separate the cable; or have to remove a spring clip and control pin and then separate the cable.

BTW: Don't flex the cable too much, or you risk damaging it.
