Default how to remove old head gasket & copper spray?

Whoever installed the headgasket last used copper spray or something close to it.

As I pulled off the gasket it ripped and came off in many part leaving a thick layer of the gasket material on the head.

I've tried using a fine kneif but did not help.
I didn't want to scrape it off with a lot of force or else it could leave marks on the head.

Q:
how do I remove old A6 paper style headgasket off head?
- aircraft stripper?
- just scrap it off and don't worry about scaring the head
- dremel with sanding wheel

check out the video at the bottom of the Tyson crx/civic faq thread, you will find it there. I bought it from Grainger(sp?). good luck......

3M makes some good abrasive pads that will not hurt the metal. their ring-loc system with a mild pad works like a champ! otherwise, walmart sell a generic orage/red scuff pad wheel, about 4" diameter that you can use with a drill. i went through 3 of them last time i did a HG. a mess to clean up, but did a phenomenal job!
