Lug Nuts: Skunk2 vs McGard SplineDrive vs Daiyama
Just wondering because all these lug nuts are about the same price $70-$85. I kind of like the Skunk2's because there bronze looking and will match my soon to come bronze Rota Circuit 8's. So what are everyones opinions on these nuts. Are they about the same weight or do you know if one is lighter than the other? Thanks.
I just installed mcgard spline drives in black chrome and they seem to be really good quality. The black looks good with my bronze wheels too. Not sure about the weight, I meant to weigh them but forgot
i got a set of the splinedrive ...
gave me much more clearance in the lug hole space of the rim .. so im not scraping my gunmetal finish anymore .. i def like those ... havent seen the skunk2zzz tho ..
I've held some skunk2 lugnuts and I'm pretty sure all 16 were lighter than 4 normal lugnuts.
Not worth the cash in my opinion, plus I'd think you'd need a special socket to keep from hurting the finish.

Looks like the McGard's would offer me a lot more security. With 4 locks with a unique key. And 12 nuts that also need a key to take off. Hmm any other opinions?
I have the black chrome Splinedrives as well!
Seems to be a LOT lighter as well... I didn't officially weigh them, but that box of Splinedrives weighed signifcantly a lot less than my box of stock lugs.

I think I ordered them on 8/23. When I called Summit they said the black wouldn't be in for 2-3 weeks. If you're getting chrome then they may be in stock or maybe the black's are in stock a little early. Either way I would check stock over the phone to make sure.
What kit number did you guys order for the McGard lug nut kits in black??

McGard's customer service is great. If the key ever breaks they will replace it for free via 1st class mail

I have the gorilla's in black. They work well for me. I don't take off and on the slipstreams often. Some people have trouble with them when using an impact but I don't use air on them and they are great.

Smelly Skunks by far, If you are going for looks, get what ever you want, but If performence and safety are a concern... Skunk2. You cannot use them by themself's, you need the longer racing approved studs (much longer than stock). The skunk2's are designed for racing, givng you more surface area so they are stronger. another thing is that all 16 nuts weigh less than probably 2 steele one's. So you are looking at 4.95 for a nut amd 4.95 for a stud plus the removale of you hubs to install the stud... You do the math

Here are the titanium lug nuts I just received oversea, probably the lightest and strongest available. They weight 15g each.

Im using black Kyokugens w/ my Bronze C8's, and Ive been happy.
They cost $45, and a call to Eddie @ Mackin will net you a free newer designed key so you dont have to worry about stripping as much.
