HT in no way can censor posts like that on the fly, it is not "posted" until it is posted. At which point they could modify your thread.

The way you're wording it is you were creating a thread and in the "Message" field it suddenly cut out before you clicked submit. It doesn't work like that, I suggest you learn how the forum software works.

*edit* Not to mention I suggest you read what rights you have regarding posting. Essentially IB owns every post you make and can do whatever they want with it. You agree to adhere to their ToS when you login.

x2

No need for paranoia guys. Do you really think the guys running the show for Honda-tech are going to watch EVERYONE's (or anyone's for that matter) message fields and keep you from voicing an unpopular opinion/fact?

This isn't some type of government censorship conspiracy. This is a Honda forum.

The powers of the Honda Tech moderators are beyond our understanding.

In this case it sounds like they used telepathy to foresee what the original poster was going to type.

Aha! Especially the use of four-letter words like F**V ...is monitored very closely!

Your misunderstanding what I meant. I'm not claiming that H-T is doing it, I was claiming that it seemed like that. Ok, its like this. I was knocked off a site a few years back and had to restart my computer. I called AOL. AOL told me that websites have the power to do that. Hey, dont shoot me, I'm only the piano player!

False, AOL's minimum wage employees lied to you. I do systems work for IBM.

It doesn't work like that. Now a website CAN execute code that could close your browser or redirect you to another site, and that *could* be configured to go off at a certain time. But HT is not like that.

If in fact you are experiencing that then I would say you have a root kit or at a minimum some vicious spyware installed on your machine and would recommend you have it fixed. A root kit I would strongly suggest you erasing the hard drive (not just formatting) before reinstalling an OS.

... Muffin, oh, thanks for that info. Thinking about this in hindsight, and how that used to happen so much more frequently, long before coming to H-T, and ALWAYS when I was on AOHELL. What you said now makes more sense. Its just that when it happens, when you dont know what [you] know about these web sites and computers, etc., your wondering why you got cut off. So, recently, I ran spyware program and found like 80 tracking cookies, etc. I suppose this is what it is. It all started happening after I went to the SONYSTYLE Jap site. I thought they sent me a virus. My apologies. I like H-T and felt lousy pointing the finder but I felt equally lousy about it happening.

Perfectly fine

Just figured I'd clarify and try to help a bit - you are FAR from the bottom of the barrel in terms of computer stuff haha so I wouldn't worry about it. Most of the time issues like root kits can go undetected for weeks, months or years even and all sorts of things could occur. For testing I purposefully loaded one on a machine and the hacker/cracker would play country music at full blast for 10 second intervals and then stop at all hours. So if you were sleeping and heard it by the time you woke up it was stopped.

It was actually pretty neat haha.
