Crank Pulley problem almost corrected
Finnaly, after about a month and a half of deciding what to do after the crank pulley destroyed the end of my crank, my Prelude is about ready to drive again. My first thought was to dump it, but after the paint job last spring and the condition of the interior the car looks barnd new so I decided to go ahead and fix it. Ordered all the part and pulled the motor while waiting on them and decided since it was out to go ahead and do everything else that is normally hard to get to as well. Today we got the rest of it put back togeather after replacing the crank, mains, rods, rings, clutch, transmission went to the shop to be rebuilt, all the lower internal seals, and then all the other little stuff like the fuel filter, oil cooler seals, battery cables, motor mounts, and the half shafts since these are normally a pain to replace. All that is left is to set the timing, throw on the new pulley and belts and drop the motor back in and hook it everything back up to it. Shooting to have it done Monday night and finally being able to drive it again is going to be a blast after spending almost 2 months in my Escort (winter beater). Lesson learned if I still have this car when the next timing belt is changed, replace the pulley bolt with a new one and make sure the pulley is seated properly with the crankshaft. Also, if you start to notice even the slightest pulley wobble get it checked out as a new pulley and key will cost about 110 bucks compared to a new crankshaft at 1120. I'll post some pictures of it when I get a chance and thanks to those that helped me out with diagnosing this origianally and the advice on fixing it.
