Default crank pulley loose

at this time my crank pulley is loose. it all started when i had friend change my timing belt last jul. A month later the crankshaft p. bolt got loose what caused crank keyway to get chipped and the key broke in half. My old man and i put some jb weld. and bought a new key. It worked but for only 5months. Just yesterday my car was making some knocking sound i couldnt find wat it was and it was the crank p. i tightened it back in with an airgun but there is still play and i think the jb weld came off. so the crank pulley has play again.

What i want to know is there anyway to repair the keyway on the crankshaft or is it possible to weld. if its not possible im thinking i have to buy a new crankshaft adn that would really suck donkey kong *****. Is there anybody thats his problem before??

thanks!

Can you take a picture of how bad it is? JB isnt going to hold a motor rotating at 6000. If you get it padded you have to remove the crank and send it off, might just be easier and cheaper to buy a new crank.

buy a new gear(if its broke or JB welded) and key....make sure you torque down the bold that hold the crank pulley there along with the gear...

I believe the torque was like 120lbs or something..double check...possible use some of that lock tight stuff that is red..

from the helms manual for a B series, a new bolt must be tq down to 145lbs then loosened and then retightened to 130lbs.

From that picture it doesnt look like your key or the groove is damaged. Put some red locktite on and torque it down to 130ftlbs and you should be good.

i checked all parts and i c the key need to be replaced. the sprocket gear has a lot of play the keyway is a little worn too. i hope welding just a tad bit on the keyway hopefully that will resolve it.

If matters come to worse is it easier to just get half a motor or get a new crankshaft??
