Icon3 *** CAR TURNS OFF WHEN LETTING GO OF CLUTCH ***

HONDA-TECH'rs I NEED FEEDBACK PLEASE

My LS Tranny had been making weird scraping noises when i would turn the car on every morning. My 2nd and 3rd gear would grind a bit but nothing major.

Turns out i ran a friend of mine and noticed the car got stuck in neutral after the run. I had to pump the clutch and literally jam it into 1st so i can move. Parked @ the mall for an hour or so.. as i was leaving the car started screaching so i pull over.

I turn the car back on and when im letting go of the clutch to take off the car shuts off.

WHATS GOING ON HERE!!!???? PLEASE HELP.

clutch is bad, simple answer.

replace the clutch.

when mine acted like this and I took it apart, I found my clutch disc was disintegrating inside the housing and I found little metal chunks that had been broken off rattling around inside my clutch getting in the way and making shifting hard/near impossible.

replace the flywheel with a lightweight one too, while you're at it. take a vid of you revving up to redline before and after the lightweight flywheel in neutral - you'll be amazed how much quicker the car hits redline with a lightened flywheel.

check the clutch
check the slave cylinder or cable and assembly (whatever applies to you)

Sound like you broke a spring in the clutch disc.

i thought my tranny was bad, but i changed clutch and it fixed the problem. no more hard shifting.

change the manual tranny fluid too, if it looks like metalic sludge this might indicate gear wear. then change it again soon after to double check. if the gears are grinding and heavily worn, the MTF will reflect this. btw it's bad for the gears to keep driving when the clutch is bad - it means you're grinding gears almost every time you shift. good way to **** up your tranny.

tranny should be fine, just grinding gears sucks. get a new clutch and check out the flywheel to make sure it didnt take some damage as well.
