It is also not uncommon for people to think a car that rides around on its bumpstops handls well....sadly they don't. Rim size are picked for brake size...If you are running huge brakes, you need huge rims. I am running 17 inch wheels with my 12.2 inch wilwood bbk. I could be running 16 inch wheels but I think the extra space allows some extra cooling for track days.....I would not run 18 inch wheels unless I was runnning more than a 13 inch rotor set up. The reason for running smaller wheels are simple...cost and preformance. Big wheels = more rotating weight, more sprung weight and more expensave tires. This whole fad of running huge wheels started with the europien touring car racing series. The rules limimted the total tire diamiter size to that of the stock car that the racer was based on. It did not limit wheel size and brake size. Soooo the race teams mounted huge wheels so they could mount huge brakes inside them. Seems that 500hp sedans that weight 2500-3000lbs are kinda tough on brakes....So when ever you see a sub 3000lb car on 18-20 inch wheels, see it for what it really is....a racer want-a-be......
Most likely you will need a roll, just get what you want. Another thing to remember is, there has been many, many way more aggressive set ups than this, so I'm pretty sure you will be able to find a way to make it work.
This is like a 10'' wheel with an aggressive offset.

an 8.5'' wheel with the offset you need is not going to look like this. It will look more like this:

I would suggest that you go to a local shop that can help you with that. A lot of Nissan specialized shops have a lot of experience in that area. It could get pretty spendy though. Best price I've seen locally for a pro job was $45 a corner. Not really too much, but more than most would like to pay to have someone literally do "damage" to their car lol.
