Leaky windshield WHAT TO USE?
I have used RVT silicone. It is made for high temp sealing of gaskets etc. on the engine, but it seems to hold up really well and does not dry out.
There is probably a more specialized product out there, but just get 3M or good brand and you will be fine for many years.

go to home depo or any home improvement store and ask them there there are many types of silicones some have better characteristisc (sealing during heat, keeping heat out, keeping heat out etc). Remember to read the instructions and do what they say for the maximum effect.

Most auto parts sell that window sealant or something similar.
Suggest you try this stuff, made for your exact purpose -

NEVER use silicone based products, one of the components in them will actually cause corrosion/rust and they contaminate the metal so when you do get the correct urethane to seal the glass its a biatch to get clean so it seals. My wife has owned an auto glass biz for 15 yrs so I know these things.(a little anyway)

The paint will stop it for awhile but just use the correct urethane (3M,Sikkens,whatever) and do it right the first time.
You could get a shop to water check the w/s and seal it for you
The right way to do it would be have it pulled, channels cleaned and repaired if needed, primed and re-set using urethane by a pro. The only drawback to this is the w/s might break when its cut out so you'd need to buy a new w/s.

He's actually right about regular silicone on metal.
There are inhibitors you can prime the metal surface with to make it not rust.
I guess it's possible they mixed inhibitor into the silicone - would have to research that, but I don't care enough.
