help choose my wheels and suspension on eg hatch!!
i just picked up a 93 red civic hatch, its my first project. the first thing im going to do to it is wheels and lower it. i was wondering what everyones thoughts were. heres a picture of it now, its not a good one but the only one i have. picked it up for 800bucks!!

im a racing guy.........well at least i want and hope to be. so strength, performance and weight are always factors for me. so i REALLY like Volk Racing TE37s. forged, very light, but pretty expensive. not quite BBS expensive but not far off either.
as far as suspension. if you have the money, a good coilover kit is awesome. most good quality ones have shock adjustments so you can make it ride like you want. just dont get something too race oriented or the springs will probly be too hard for a comfortable ride.

I like gold wheels on red cars, like rota tack r's and things like that. Look up "offset king honda" that red eg has some really nice bbs's on it, although you couldnt fit his size probably the wheel itself looks good. For suspension, if you just want the best (just as good as some full coilovers) setup for cheap do koni yellows and eibach ground control coilovers. its around 800 i think

yeah koni yellows and ground controls are a great setup from what I've heard, that's what I want to go for soon.. right now I just have tein s techs and stock struts, which is a decent set up (sits lower, less body roll, still has an ok ride) and really cheap, not great obviously, the stock struts are shot on my car...
If you don't have a lot of money get some stock si wheels or teg wheels, rotas are nice for a little more

rims = enkei RPF1 in black/silver/gold. They are 9.5 lbs, lightest rims I could find for my car. Sexy too, and lots of air circulation to the brakes for cooling. Looks good with painted brake calipers (painted mine red on black car) and big-brakes. (I have yet to afford them.)
I went with 15inch, 7inch wide to soak up small road bumps. Could go with 16, but that's bordering on shtity looking and harsher ride.
For suspension - koni yellow and ground control. Adjustable dampening and ride height, can't go wrong.
btw nice find for 800.

I never understand theses threads....
Wheels = personal choice, why have someone else tell you what to buy???
Suspension, you get what you pay for, pay more $$, get a better suspension!

yeh @ deetz.
I choose the product based solely on my purpose - which is generally function. So it would make sense to ask for functional products. Asking for opinions is ghei tho...
something like "what are the lightest (strong) rims I can put on my car in XXXsize?"
suspension though... you get what you pay for. koni yellow/gc springs, you can't get any better in terms of function - adjustable dampening and ride height.

I think the Koni/GC combo is great, but I wouldn't doubt some full coilovers being better. For the money, the combo is great, and you can talk them apart and switch the springs to other shocks.
But yeah, pick rims you like based on what you want, we can't tell you what you think looks good. I think Rotas look good, but some people don't like them. It's whatever.

thanks, and yeah it is personal choice. but i was just wide open to any ideas bc i just got the car and im unsure of what route to go. prbly 15's and im gonna look into the koni yellows and eibach coilovers.
