bad gas mileage, o2 sensors
i have a gsr swapped eg. im doing about 16-21mpg and its drinking gas, doesn't help when you hit vtec either. im guessing its my o2's since it'll throw a code once in a while.
*the only present CEL code is code 70 which is odd. i have a manual GSR with gsr tranny.
i did the paper clip trick and it throws out 7 flashes and repeats. but whenever the cel light pops up while im driving the car idles higher at about 1100rpm instead of my "normal" 600-700rpms. and the throttle feels a little off and seems less responsive
so recently i found out that i dont have any sensors when getting my new exhaust put on. the headers i run dont have any sensor, neither does my cat. i dont even know how i can run o2's unless i get another cat or exhaust manifold.

There are many cause for poor gas mileage. Don't replace anything until you have pulled the CEL codes. Next time the CEL turns on, pull over and leave the engine running while you jump the service connector.
EG Monsta, Auto Zone, Advance, etc... will check it for you for free. Some provide a print out. The dealership can do it as well. It was free the last time I had it done on my RSX.
Or, last time I had a CEL on my Civic, I did the old paperclip trick, then found the list of codes here on HT.
I'm getting horrible gas mileage with no CEL. I'm hoping this weekend's oil change, PCV replacement, air filter cleaning/oiling helps some. I've already done new plugs/wires.
I do have a small crack in the exhaust manifold, but i'm not sure that would equate to a 5 MPG loss?

my exhaust is fine. there no sensors hooked up for some reason. i bought the car like that. the only cel code that comes up is code 70 which has something to do with automatic transmissions. my car is manual tho so i dont understand whats going on. im wondering if the cel even has anything to do with my car missing the o2's. the CEL code has nothign to do with fuel tho so im not sure
check you vin, maybe the car was converted to manual. the gas mileage can be fixed one of 2 ways 1) get o2 sensors/header with o2 bung or 2) get the car tuned to run without the sensors.
Get a bung welded into your downpipe, the bungs are like $5 on ebay, or you can get a spark plug non-fouler and cut part of it off and use it as a bung.
Getting the car tuned to run without a sensor is an option, but it should be retuned in the spring and fall to adjust for temperature and the difference in the winter versus summer gas mixes.
If you keep having issues, you could have other problems like bad injectors. Stock 240cc injectors are cheap and not a bad idea to keep extra on hand.
Look at the white tag on your ECU and see if it's an automatic. Japan had automatic GSRs and some people run P28 ECUs with their GSR swaps. If the last number on the tag is an even number, it was an automatic ECU, if it was odd it was from a manual. Hopefully this is your issue because that's an easy fix.

could it be the injectors? i think the cars already been tuned to run without sensors because the car is tuned and is pretty quick compared to other gsr's. so how can i tell if the injectors are bad? im gonna check out if my ecu is an auto ecu this week
