i would check out http://www.d-series.org/forums/ for more info on the vitara pistons, and i would recommend the eagle rods if you can afford them.

Honestly, there are a few vitara setups out there that make 400+ but i would say the majority don't if you are talkin a pump gas tune...I think where you will get the most benefit and make it easier to attain your power goals you will need a very good flowing head..But, on pump again, expect 350-375.

yea, but i heard they dont last very long 5k miles at the most....yea i going to do it on pump gas...i would be happy with 375hp..but i know some people that has 400+ on pump gas...it is all in the tune...if you have a good tuner then your going to expect some good numbers...

What? vitara pistons only last around 5k? thats not good news for me. i was planning on doing the same set-up but i guess not anymore because i need a car that would last long and still have at least 350hp.
yea i think the most their getting out of them are like 8k....they will hold 400+hp but just not for very long...its because of the piston to wall clearance is not right and its beating the rings and pistons to death....but if you want to bore your block to 75.5mm and get the piston to wall clearance right then you should be alright if you have a good tuner...im still doing the vitara setup with 75mm...im goin to see what it does at 400+ daily driven....

man thats dam good....i was just reading about them and they said they dont last long around 5 to 8k...i was just taking there word for it...because i know some people thats only got 4k out of theirs and then had to get their block resleeved because of the piston slap it beat the **** out of there walls and it lost compression... but if you know some people thats getting 20k out of them thats great man...im defiantly doing it now...i just ordered them with the fj h-beam rods....
what would be a good turbo for my build....i was going to get the t3/to4e .60/.82 60trim..but i dont know yet...i like to have it start spoolin around 3800 to 4200rpms and carry out to redline...
Go-autoworks.com has a really nice 50 trim. Its made by Borg Warner and its a custom spec built turbo just for the d series motor. Thats he turbo my dad has on his built vitara motor, but we haven't drove the car with the new turbo on yet.
vitara/eagle will make around 7.4:1 compression in a d16z6. this will work but isn't ideal cause combustion is not happening at the right place. fj distributors make custom length i-beam rods that will make 8.4:1 compression with the vitaras. they also claim their rods can handle 500+ whp.
i recommend a t3/t04e 57/60 trim or t3/60-1

i done made my mind up im getting a t3/t04e 60trim...i did some reading about it on a vitara setup and it does what i want...it sarts spoolin around 4400 rpms and carrys out to redline...i thank that i will be a good turbo for my setup...
dont get the .82, go with a 57trim in a 63ex. i had the bulleseye 57 with a 70 ex. was a lil laggy but worked very well.. i hope you plan on revin to at least 8500 if you get a 82.
Yea a .63 ar will still hold all the way up there, but you will get better spool. Like I said, I will have a brand new 57 trim in a few weeks. I'm getting a brand new AFI kit and we'll be upgrading to a bigger turbo. So your your going to a 57 trim I can give you a deal on one.
