Default CRX-HF B16 conversion

Finally i have my car back home. After just purchasing her on Sunday, she broke down 180 miles from base. I have just replaced the front shocks, new brakes all round (still running on drums at the back), changed the alternator and rewired the starter motor. I noticed there was a lot of vibration going through the car, and realized the ac mount (nothing connected) is sitting on the sway bar. As there is hardly any ground clearance due to the exhaust down pipes im a little worried if i block it up, undo the ac mount and drop. If it then sits too low, is there any way of raising the engine a few more inches? Or would i have to change the exhaust manifold and down pipes in order to get clearance, so it doesn't drag? I also cant get rid of the CEL, and its not throwing out any codes. At high revs, the battery and brake light on the dash come on. Could this be related? Thanks all! Really appreciate it!

How low is this car? Ive heard of all the things you describe on cars that are slammed. Slammed = less than a pack of cigarettes.

The car its self isn't that low, but the exhaust down pipes are, they are about 3-4 inches off the ground. Last thing i wna do is smash those Thanks!

Also no more high idling! WD-40 is a god! sticky gas pedal though, will have to see what WD does for that, too dark now though. Hopefully this weekend i shall have my receiver in, removed ac mount and speakers in. I also relocated the battery to the boot (trunk). First real modded car and im lovin her! woop, owe and tapping noise has started coming from i believe the injectors... going to change oil and would you recommend using an injector cleaner? should i keep to 10-30 oil? synthetic? thanks

I went and had a look, was too dark to get a good picture with flash. Will have to try friday as im out all thursday. The pipes run to the right of the oil pan and are stacked two on top of each other, i can't find my measuring tape but they are about the length of a mechincal pencil from the ground (already scuffed them). The outlet pipes are also touching the steel bar going across, i believe its the sub-frame, would it be possible to bend the pipes by about 1-2cm (.5 inch) to gain clearance or is there simply not enough room / leverage to bend with out taking it all off? Thanks once again dude!

youll have to cut the x-member, mines really close to. cant even fit a quarter between it. but as for the pipes, id still say you have a header/downpipe thats to long

Hopefully i'll have sometime tomorrow or sat to have a real good look. Was late and dark by the time i got home, so ended up re-wiring the stereo harness as the last guy totally wrecked it, leaving all the wires way too short, looks like he just ripped the head unit out. I have some nice infinity reference to go in but yet again the last guy totally screwed the factory mounts up, he's gone and cut the back speaker holes to fit $10 6x9's and bolted a metal bracket over the top. Other than fiber-glassing and re-cutting holes, can you think of a decent 'quick' cheap fix? That will allow me to get accurate, good sound quality. If you think thats still possible. Thanks once again!

Yeah thats the thing, the condenser mount is sitting on the crossmember, going to remove the mount tomorrow and hope the engine doent drop too much, going to try and find some scrap wood to block it up today (after work). Do you think this will be ok?

well...the front trans mount is located on the lower crossmember. however the ac mounts are part of the radiator support and dont hold the engine in place up front.

so i finally got a new laptop after a surge destroyed my motherboard. Just for an update i took the ac mount off, which was a real pain, took around and hour, two jacks, various wrenches, spanners and a good ole hammer but its done. What a difference! well worth the cuts bruises and bloodied knuckles.

Some new updates: v-tec solenoid gasket decided to spew oil over my lovely clean engine, after waiting several days for the part to arrive it was the wrong one. Thankfully it was their mistake when ordering so now its all clean, no oil leaks and pristine again :D

Radiator hose blew off at 60 mph, never seen a steam cloud that big before, scared the pants off me. Replaced all the steel clips with worm drives, now have a small leak, i think its from the top pipe which blew off.

I also developed a water leak which i have slowed till i can respray and fill (i used chaulk). The leak is on the right at the top of the trunk hinges.

Been a crazy month!

I bought it semi complete, the guy before had the engine in and mounted, messed the wiring up, ran out of money and gave up.

So i got her cheap, thrown in a quite alot of $$$ and now have a sweet ride with less than 1,000 miles on the engine, i've put on every mile myself.

Im looking to do a rear disk brake conversion and gsr caliper conversion all round. Found out im going to have to up to 15" which is annoying as i love my 14" and they're all brand new tires.

She's getting there with alot of tlc :D
