Interesting. I've owned a 366whp evo, a 330 whp E36 M3, and now a Mazdaspeed3 which has torque and the best car I've owned had the lowest torque and HP which was an Integra Type R.

I've learned that it isn't about ultimate power but the excitement of the drive. Do you think more torque would make the S2000 more fun to drive? If you have an AP1 would you trade it for an Ap2 with similar miles and condition with no money involved just to have more torque?

there are lots of cars with more torque that arent nearly as fun or as fast.

but for general purposes the s2000 is about right.. any more power and there would be even more wrecked s2000's than there already are.

it's a 2.0L 4 pot Honda engine that goes for a million miles with hardly any servicing. It's (reasonably) economical and tame as a ***** cat at low speeds.

Add to that the fact that it produces in the region of 250hp stock and goes completely mental over the 6k rev until it screams out to 9k.

It's reasonably priced too

I always want more power - that never stops, so theoretically it is underpowered for me. But is the car underpowered? Not it's not - it's an amazing piece of engineering, even by todays standards.

I think the f series in these cars make the vehicle as fun as they really are. What i mean by that is, it wouldn't be the same if it was a forced induction 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder. These extremely fine tuned NA 2/2.2 liter motors are great, and are what makes this car so well balanced - In a literal sense, and in terms of drive-ability. Like most, i wish it was a little faster, but i do not think it is underpowered.

i just recently purchased an S2K and i still have the same woody i had from when i signed the check for the payment!!!

1) rigid body n superior handling compared to my previous H22A prelude and my ej20 WRX.
2) torque is kinda weak lower than 4500 rpms, but who drives under 4500 rpms
3) car looks pimp az F&%K
4) i own one...so yea i love it...not underpowered for me. If you want more power buy some boost with ball bearing turbo, that will get you powered up real quick.

B====> <~~ thats my woody by the way

These cars are made to be balanced, not to be drag raced.....

I drive an AP2. I don't think the car is underpowered at all. Enough tq to get around town. Enough HP to get into trouble.

could use a broader powerband ala I-vtec system which is currently under development by design craft. 240 hp seems about what it should be at, maybe a little more hp would be nice given its 2800 pound curb weight.

S2000, civic type r, prelude, rsx type s= lack of torque

Welcome to honda engineering.

Even though alot of honda cars lack torque, i would gladly own one.

I was satisfied with the stock power in my AP1. Of couse my DD was/is an EJ7. If I would've changed anything, it would be the FD.

Had fun in all of my Hondas--AP1, DC, EJ. My next project will also be just as fun.

I feel the car is really balanced but when around town I wish i had a little more power on the highway etc. Another 20-30hp would be great I don't want to go the boost route, feels unbalanced.

I dont think a stock S2 is under powered, but I do feel the difference between a stock s2k and a modified one. My girl has a stock one and I got the one thats fixed up... big power difference.

the only boost route i would go with is a comptech supercharger... just that little extra hp without throwing off the whole idea of the car...
