94 accord, will this short ram intake fit?
My friend has a short ram intake he said he'd sell me for $20. He doesnt know what car its for though. My question is, will this fit in my 94 accord. Heres a picture of it
just ask him if you can test fit it. you will most likely be able to tell just by holding it on top of your existing intake but even if you have to take your existing one off it isnt hard to do. just loosen the screw on the clamp by the TB and remove the screws in the airbox. move the top part of the intake so you can get to the bottom section. there are i believe 2 bolts holding this part on (mine only has one but there is a bracket that looks like there should be another one.) there is one electrical plug of some type and a vacuum line on there that need to be pulled. its easy. then see if his SRI will fit.
if it fits go for it, CAI is supposedly better but with piping like that im sure u could add on more if u wanted to... Make sure the filter is in good shape and of good quality, otherwise you might have to be putting down another $20-$50 on a nice filter
Yea, well i feel kinda bad because my dad just spent money on a new air filter for the stock filter. but $20 is a steal. and i dont drive this much anyway seeing as i dont have my license, zzz. but even if it needs a new filter i can come up with some more money before January when i get my license..Oh another question. If it fits on my f22b2 will it fit on the h22a im plannin to swap for this summer? I'm sure it will but im jw if the two engines are all that different
It doesnt look to be long enough.
There's one on ebay right now for $30 free shipping.

Toss on a K&N filter and you're pretty well off.

not bad. mine was a little more than that one, and it looks identical. lol...ebay. works good for what i use it for though.
here is the problem i ran into with the ebay intake. now, if you put the filter on and force it to go down, it will. but, it is a very tight fit.

if you can't spend the money on an intake from ebay, here is what was on my car from the previous owner. not sure if it really makes that big of a difference, but who knows.

hmm after looking at pics of ones that do fit these cars it doesnt look long enough, like TheMuffinMan said. hard to tell for sure from just pics though. i would still see if he will let you test fit it. make sure that it is long enough to reach to about where the stock air filter is. if it isnt long enough my guess is that the hot air will do more harm for performance than good (since thats the reason that CAI is better than SRI) theres a good chance that one is for something like a civic or an integra, thats a more common application.
in short, if it fits and puts the filter in a reasonable location i think $20 is a good deal. especially if the filter is in good condition.

well im gettin from him sometime this week, and he's one of my good friends so if it doesnt fit it's not that big of a deal, unlike Ebay where as if it doesnt fit theres a lot more hassle to go to to get my money back haha. So ill check it out. Is there any way i could buy an extension for it to make it longer? now that i look at it im almost certain it wont fit. but maybe i could get an elbow or somin for it

yea, i just dont have money for that and the filter, you think i'd be okay using the filter that it comes with for a while until i can get the money for the k&n?
i say dont waste you money on it...that thing is literally a hot air intake...imo your better of just taking off the resonator (the part of the stock intake in the bumper)
okay, thanks for the help. I think im going to go with the ebay one. Now I found a CAI on ebay for the same, $30. Should i stick with the short ram, or go for the cold air one. Whats the difference in installing them, sorry im kinda new to this stuff

The cold air is better for the most part. Unless it rains alot in your area or you plan on go mobbing threw puddles and lakes
. The only difference between the two is that it is a must that you remove the resonator with the cold air because the filter sits in the bumper.

i guess it doesnt matter any more but i was looking at some ebay intakes and that one looks like the end peice of a CCAI, or complete cold air intake. (thats what K&N calls it anyways.) A CCAI is a cold air intake that can be converted into a short ram intake by removing the end piece. if that is correct then it would be pretty much useless. but anyways good luck with the ebay intake. if you are mechanically inclined at all i would go with the CAI but if not the SRI is probably a better idea since the SRI would be much easier to install.
With installing a CAI, dont i just have to just remove the Resonator? And What about the Intake Air temp. sensor? It doesn't look like they have a hole for it, what should i do about that?
Just save up and get an AEM one or something like that, then you have a good filter, and the correct hardware for it, and instructions.
Just my 2 cents.
Plus those "polished" ebay intakes look really cheap imo.

atthis point i make so little money that it'd take me 3 months to get the money for an AEM , so ill just buy this one now and wait till i have a job to get a better one.
