Default car wont warm up all the way!!!

first of all i did search for this problem but it was always other peoples themostat.

i replaced the thermo with a a brand new oem one from the dealership and i flushed out all the coolant and added new coolant.

i replaced the gauge cluster with a brand new spoon gauge cluster both gauge clusters read the same.

i got a 01 integra type r, when i start the car in the moring its cold as normal but as im driving to work it only warms up to 1/4 on the gauge, even if i drive a long distance it reads 1\4, please help

Faulty coolant temperature sensor? Bad radiator temp sensor?

Sounds like there might be air bubbles trapped in the system or you have a leak somewhere letting air into it.

Wouldn't air bubbles in the cooling system cause the cars idle to fluctuate?

How cold is it outside when your driving? When I am in freezing temps my coolant gauge acts just like yours, when I am in temps above 40 degrees Fahrenheit everything acts as it should.

Yea, below 40 degrees, i used to have to put a piece of cardboard in front of one half of my radiator to let it warm up.

My same car does that sometimes to, and sometimes it reads normal right before the half line. Haven't cared enough yet to look into it.

Keep us updated on what you do to fix it, hopfully saving me some time.

Its probably your spoon gauge, I have one and the h2o temperature gauge isn't accurate (neither is the OEM one)....get a proper h2o gauge.

My 98 UK ITR does the same thing, the temp gauge only goes up about 1/4 the way but the car runs perfect and is actually getting up to temp fine so it never bothered me.

I feel your pain. I'm having the same issue right now on a 00 Civic SI. I just changed out the thermo and coolant. The last set of coolant was blue so maybe a water wetter was in mine.

The tube from the termo down to the rad isn't getting warm either. Even after the engine sits at idle at gets up to the fan switch temp. But when driving it just drops. Confirmed no air in my system either.

Let me know as you press on, I'll share any changes I find. Today was a high of 26F here. Worse case I might try the cardboard trick. I had to do that on a previous b16 I owned. This is the first winter with this car for me.

Have you let the car idle long enough to warm up? The fan should kick on once the car is up to operating temps. Does it still come on?

I recently hit an animal in the road and replaced my stock oem radiator with an aftermarket one, since then, the car will warm up to normal at idle, but after driving, the needle reads as if the car is cooling down, sometimes the needle is at the C, sometimes vtec will cross over hard, sometimes not at all, same with the heat, any suggestions, tips, advice?
