Education?
Hey guys, I was wondering where you can go after High School to get into Body work, and more into the car industry. I'm about to graduate in two years so I'm interested to see where most people from HT learn to weld and do the body work for their cars by themselves.
I would look on the ASE website www.ase.com in their course catalouge. I have not personally completed this or any ASE program but I do paint both as a hobby and trade. Most body shops/collision repair/custom shops in my area will require these coursed not only for the knowledge but for the saftey and hazardous material training that is manditory in these prgrams. I believe alot of your pre-requisits (besides knowing correct painting procedure) deal with the high insurance cost to the employer when running this type of business.
I learned originally by necessity....ahh, yes the mother of all invention. Never had big money to throw at some monkey with a spray gun and a sheet of sandpaper. I take pride in my work and have learned a great deal doing thins on my own. Read, read, read, and most of your questions will be answered for small projects. Look into a nationally accredited school certification program to get a start with an employer. I hope the info sheds some light.
