2000 civic crank but no start?
Hey guys, I stick to the accord section mainly, but I have a civic question that could use help.
A friend of my uncles went out to start the 2000 civic this morning to come back from vacation and it would not start at the hotel. He said that the fuel pump is priming, and he opened a fuel line and there is fuel getting to the fuel rail. He said he came back after a few hours, just like his girl friend had done when this problem happened before, and it started right up once the sun came up and the inside of the car got a little warmer.
All I can think of is main relay possibly.
I am going to go look at the car tomorrow for him, but I want to at least have a few leads before getting into it.
Thanks guys.

I thought the main relay provides power to the fuel pump? Funny thing is you said that the injectors prime. Maybe spark, when my coil was slowly going my car would start sometimes.
yeah some people talk about ignitors going bad but IDK. coils going bad of course is possible but seeing that it is in the dizzy might as well see if you can get an extra just to replace and isolate the fault to just that.

oh they have an internal coil?? ok, well I will tell the guy that he may want to start there, or just take it to a shop and have them spend a bunch of money replacing parts until they run out of parts that eventually fixes it.
if his coil went out then it probably wouldnt start.
this has all happened to me before.
1) my coil went out on both of my cars, no start. no matter what. replace it bing bang boom and it started right up.
2) My car would start when it wasnt wet, and it was dry. when it rained, my car wouldnt start, it would be a constant cranking even clicking. i tried batteries, starters, coils, none of it worked. i had oil inside my distributor causiing no spark. check the cap out and check to see if the cap and rotor are alright.
hope this helps
