Default Diagnosing an oil burning beast

Hey everyone this'll be a good case scenario for you all I think I've got it nailed down but i'm deployed so I'm always open to new ideals.

My car burns oil like mad during a cold start up. After it warms up the oil is gone to a degree but you can smell it. Anyway I finally got around to doing a wet and dry compression test. Cylinder is waaaay high, we're talking 30 - 40 high. This was done on a cold motor so it hadn't been running in months.

Now inspecting the plugs as they came out. You'll love this...cylinders 1,3,and 4 are dry and looking normal (if there is normal for an FI motor). Cylinder 2 holy God, it is drenched in oil. Came out dripping in fact. Gap is good though LOL! So my initial concern was piston rings but the test seems to say otherwise.

I'm gathering that oil is pooling up in the firing chamber when its cold. So it can't be the rings because oil doesn't flow through there when its not running. In the head though there is oil...I'm thinking the valve seals on cylinder 2 are gone or jacked up.

Thoughts opinions?

My current plan is to buy new rings, and if I can afford it get guides, springs, retainers and a cam grind. I can't seem to find titanium valve guides anywhere. I've seen bronze but umm yeah...

Thanks for providing this, it was really good and helpful. Now again I can drive my car in the same way as I do earlier.

valve stem seals for #2 cylinder....I would just repalce them all and do the tube seals at the same time.
