Default looking to swap f20b into cd or cb accord. advice

i just sold my integra and im looking into buying a cb accord. or maybe a cd if i can find one for a good price.

im really intersted in swaping in a f20b from HMO. i have never owned an accord or done any swap other than B and D series.

i just have simple questions.

-can i use the stock 5 speed accord trans?

-will it go in using the stock mounts or are aftermarket ones needed?

-how difficult is it to wire it up in and obd0 or obd1 car(i have read that it is simpler to just buy an obd1 h22 IM)

im not planning on going past usual bolt ons, and it will be my daily driver and maybe auto X(maybe). i know internal parts are hard to find but im not the type to abuse motors or become bent on making huge dyno numbers.

thanks for your help, im really looking forward to this.

The F20B is similar to the H22. Same install method.

I would try to get the F20B/H22 tranny if you're going to do the swap. The gearing is better matched for the engine than the F22 trannies.

Also, if you do the swap, get 3 92-96 Prelude engine/tranny mounts. Personally, I would get new OEM mounts. They are beefier than the Accord mounts. The front mount is different though. You can't use a Prelude mount.

so prelude mounts. does it matter if theyr from the H or F series lude?

i had a pretty good idea the gear ratios on the H trans would be better suited for the F20b, but im on a budget so thats somthing that would have to wait till some more funds build up.

any more info is greatly appreciated

I totally understand about the budget. However, if I were you, I would save your money before you do the swap so you can do it right. It won't feel right if you don't. Seriously. I could understand if you wanted to cut corners if you blew your engine in your daily driver and just needed to get the car back up and running. However, if you buy a running car, don't jump into a swap if you can't afford to do it right the first time.

Get the ones for a '92-'96 VTEC Prelude. I am pretty sure the Si and SiVTEC mounts are the same, but just get the ones for a VTEC Prelude just to be safe.

They can get expensive. I know, I just bought some new ones. The driver's side is $125 alone. :-/ However, it's a good idea to change them. The ones on our cars are old. I didn't change mine when I did my H22 swap in my Prelude and I regretted it. I ruined a perfectly good axle and had a shaky engine because of it.

I am currently in the process of swapping the H22 from my Prelude to Accord. I am replacing EVERYTHING I can. Yeah, it starts getting expensive, but at least it will be done right and I won't have any regrets. I won't have to mess with it for a while, too.

im not planing on spending too much on the chasis since the main goal is a swap. im borrowing my brothers car as a daily until i decide what route i go with, and right now a f20b accord is at the top of my list of choices

i loved my integra but since i have a famliy now i have to drive w passengers all the time. the last thing i wanted was to be somwhere w my daughter in the dead of winter only to come outside and realise my car is gone.

Don't do it on a budget and why the HELL would you get an F20B if you're on a budget? They're way pricier than H22's

i can get a F20b from hmo for about $800(depending on what mood steve is in lol)35k miles with %100 start up guarantee, all sensors working properly or my money back

or a H22 from sombody here localy with an unknown amount of miles. no guarantee, no known history of the engine besides the sellers word(which i have learned not to trust dealing with the shady ppl around here)

i have never researched a H or F swap, i like what i read about the F, its like getting a high reving b series motor that i love so much in a chasis that doesnt run the risk of theft whenever i take it out of my garage.

i will look into the H22a7 tho

Certainly sounds like a "hookup" price. The H22A is already OBDI and relatively cheap, especially for just the block. The issue with your F20B is it's OBDII, if you drop it into an OBDI car why not just start with an OBDI motor?

hookup? it cost $849.00 before shiping http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30013 (which i dont need bcuz i live 1 hour away) and its not unusual for him to drop the price 50-100 dollars when you make a big purchase from him, he recognisez some of my friends bcuz they buy so much from him. if you dealt with HMO on a usual basis u know what im talking about.

Honestly, I think you are heading for headaches the way you are planning. It is even more important for you to have a nice reliable car since you have a family. That gives you even more reason to build the car correctly.

I recently picked up a '92 Accord. I plan to use it for daily driving/bad weather. I am doing all I can to make sure I get it reliable. I am changing the engine mounts, axles, ball joints, tie rods, etc so I can feel very confident the car will start when I need it and it is in safe driving condition.....and I am single....and I live in colder climate than you! I saved my money and I am doing it right from the get-go. These cars are old and they need work.

It doesn't really sound like you really want a reliable car. It sounds like you want a car to tinker with that's not as commonly stolen...and the most important goal is an engine swap.

Anyway, I wish you luck. You're going to need it.

I bought myself a DD before I do my swap. So if the car I do my swap on doesn't get done like planned, I still have my DD to drive around with. Plus, I only drive my Accord on weekends.
