Default Theft recovery....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1855925065

well found this on ebay. before i start, anyone recognize it. ok well my Q is, i work at a body shop and i am currently building a ITR motor and gona put it in my GSR body. this ITR shell looks in good condition, so u guys think its worth it if i get it to put my motor in it?. its missing couple interior peices but its no biggy. its missing axles and shift linkage and shifter. im kinda thinking about getting it.

so should i just put my ITR motor in the GSR body, or work on getting this ITR shell for the motor.

thanx

well, the ITR shell is superior to the gs-r (et al).

missing motor, trans, axles, ECU, seats passenger airbag, gauges, radiator, exhaust, rearspoiler, doorpanels, console, radiator and fans.
you're looking at a lot of work there....plus shipping. I'd almost say find a high mileage shell locally in good shape locally and then sell what you need to from it.

well, i'd say see if you can find out if the suspension is intact and make sure it was only stripped, not wrecked too..

if so, it might be a good value, especially since you already have the motor being built.. you'd just need some odds and ends and it'd be all set..

hmmm... i just talked to my boss now on the phone. he made a good point. this car has no interior, motor, axles, ECU. he goes to auctions all the time and finds no engine integras there. so i guess ill work with him in getting one from the auction for half the price with everything except for engine and trans and say the ECU. so i guess i wanted it cuz it was "a Type R", but its missing everything to be one. so i guess ill just go with a car from the auction.

I see 5 lugs, WHEELS and drivers airbag still. Good god. If I didn't just buy my hatch for a project car, I'd be all over it. This is one of the cleanest shells I've seen after a theft recovery. There seem to still be some expensive ITR goodies left over.

If you were looking for a project car, I'd say go for it. You'll be saving a life in a way. You'll be a conservationist.

Look at the shell and engine bay. It looks like the suspension and ABS is in tact, AMAZING... Guess the theft order didn't reqiuire the suspension.

It looks good to me but, I'm pretty sure you could get a "Shell" for less than the current bid. I sold mine for salvage for less than the cirrent bid and it included everything that is missing from the above car.

So as shells go it looks good but, the price is high.

Good luck,

A.

That's a great platform for a race car. I'd go full cage, ITB/Jun 3 set up, etc.

So what should I offer for a 97 LS with 70,000 mi, but with Type R engine, suspension, trans, exhaust, all with 13,000 mi. New GSR interior, 97 NSX front brakes and wheels assuming everything is legit and clean. He's asking $15,000.???

Damn that pic almost makes you wanna cry. Nothing is there. Not even the emblems! OR the lip, OR the front bumper lights. Thieves suck *** and on this one apparentally there was NO mercy for the little yellow teggy. Someone should buy the shell and make a movie about restoring it. 'The Little R That Could'

Yes, engines are quite heavy. Around 350+lb's. I'm not sure on exact numbers, but that is pretty close.

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking around 300lbs or so, just seemed odd to me that it looked that high. Only time I ever saw an engine out of a car with all suspension intact was at the porsche dealer. Looked weird. Anyways, thanks for clarification.
