Default Wheel noise..bad hub?

im not sure whats wrong with my car. while i drive it i can hear a grinding noise coming from the front passenger side wheel it sounds like something is rubbing. then i noticed my brakes not braking properly. so when i jacked the car up, while the tire was off the ground i was able to move it back and forth like some sort of play even though the lug nuts were on nice and tight. so i took off the wheel and noticed the rotor was carved out like the top half of it... what could be wrong with it? its a 98 ex by the ways

I would definately say wheel bearing then, it must be pretty bad though to be grinding the rotor down.

wheel bearing could be goin bad. go make a nice right turn and get the weight to transfer off that wheel and see if it gets a lil quieter then ul kno.

solved the problem, it was the wheel bearing that was out. replaced the hub and now works like a champ again..
