Default Easy Radiator Fan Question

I have searched and read a lot of threads on the radiator fan not working and with all my homework, I still have not found an answer.

The condensor fan, or the fan on the drivers side is out of the vehicle. It was shot and I removed it. The left side fan is not coming on at all even with the a/c on. It did at first but is not now. Ive replaced the radiator fan switch and still nothing. All my connections look good.

Will the left side fan still work with the other fan removed? I didnt know if they worked in conjuction with one another. I have also read that it would be good to burp the coolant system, any ideas on how to do that. Recently the radiator was replaced, filled the car with new coolant, etc.

I figured I would try one more time before I installed a toggle switch in the cabin to turn the fan on as I please. Does anyone have a cwrite up on installing such a switch? I found this one http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/31148_Inst.pdf , does it look good?

Thanks for the help.

Why run a switch? Just splice into a power wire that only comes on with the ignition. That way it will come on any time the car is running. And you can get 20amp switches from Autozone, O'reilly, or Harbor Freight. Should be cheaper than what you were looking at.

installing any type of switch is just a band-aid fix. troubleshoot the real problem.

1. jump the fan connector..does it turn on? if yes then the fan is good. look into the relay, thermoswitch, wiring. if no, then the fan motor is bad.

2. is your cooling system bled properly? air in the system could cause the fan to not turn on.

3. grab a multimeter and check for continuity in thw wiring (ecu->thermoswitch) etc.

4. is the car overheating? the fan only comes on at +200*F. are you sure the fan is suppose to be on?

Update..the cooling fan fuse was busted..replaced it. The radiator fan comes on with the a/c is activated. How do I bleed the system?

1. let engine cool
2. take off radiator cap
3. start engine and allow it reach reach operating temp (fan cycles on/off once or twice.
4. fill radiator as needed
5. replace cap
6. top off overflow tank

What ever you are going to do, first let the engine to get cooled and then only try anything. Other it will cause accidents for you.
