MFactory, Synchrotech and Gear-X are all about the same. Carbon-moly synchro's will yield better engagement.

This winter I will be rebuilding my trans and this is something I have been thinking about. Is the difference noticeable in the feel of the shifts? Are the shifts more forgiving, less likely to grind while shifting fast? What sort of life can be expected when daily driven with a bit of abuse?

No synchro can cover up the damage that was done to the other shift pieces from someone abusing it with a worn synchro. If the other parts are worn, you can still have issues with shifting. But the carbon synchros definitely feel a bit different.

Probably within 10-20% of the OEM synchro. Some S2000 and RSX transmissions come with carbon-moly synchros from factory. Just depends on how often the abuse is and the rpm involved.

Gearspeed, MFactory, Gear-X, Synchrotech Carbon Moly Synchros are all the same Carbon/Moly material that we developed in 2005. They only last a little longer than the stock brass synchros but they do provide a much smoother shift with reduced shift bump and gear clash.

We have just finished the final prototype testing of our new Pro Series Full Fiber Lined Carbon Synchros which are much more durable. They are in production and should be available in January 2010. For more information, the Feb 2010 issue of Import Tuner Magazine (on stands now) has an article featuring these new synchros in a build that we did for them.

I received a prototype set of these synchros to try out in a customers transmission. After not having very good luck with a carbon set, I installed these and they have been working great with a 350whp gsr for about 3-4 months now.
