Default Driver-rear brake grind?

Okay - here's the scenario. My driver-rear brake continuously grinds. I know typically this is in correlation to the rotor(s) I just don't get how this would've just happened? It was fine one day and then we had a nor'easter (flooding, a load of rain, etc) and then when I started driving my car it had this grinding noise.

Is there anything specific I'm overlooking that could've been caused by the rain/flooding or do I just need to replace the rotors?

Do you have rear disc or drum brakes? Regardless, pull the wheel off and inspect the brake pads and the rotor/drum.

i would inspect the pad like Ron said and unbolt the calipers and see if the plunger is still working right. ie able to be pushed in via clamp.
