Default ATF in a manual?

I've worked on cars for years and have never had an issue with putting ATF in a manual transmission, it's recommended in many domestic trannys. I recently did a new clutch and cheaped out on the flywheel (used the old one). Drove for about 2K and no issues but I have developed a pretty good clutch chatter if I hang on the clutch as of lately? Fluid issue or flywheel?

Flywheel issue if you're getting clutch chatter. It's because you re-used the old flywheel and probably didn't have it resurfaced. Flywheel needs to be resurfaced when installing a new clutch otherwise you'll have chatter and engagement issues. I would drain that ATF and put in Honda MTF ASAP. No reason to lose a good tranny over something like that. Also, this isn't a domestic vehicle. They don't use ATF in their transmissions like many Fords do.

Any thoughts about reusing this clutch? like I said it only has a few thousand on it and I rarely have to ride it to make it chatter.

if the tranny is off. clutches are cheap just put a new one on. you wont regret it. unless its an expensive fancy stg43 clutch

ok so I drained the ATF and put in hondas MTF and about 90% of the shudder is gone. It seemed strange to me that the "clutch chatter" didn't develop right away it took a couple of weeks. like I said I only have about 2-3k on this since the new clutch and fluid. Any thoughts on this? Did that ATF break down and not lubricate well enough? seems strange?
