Default need 96-98 civic keyless entry help

Ok so i bought a 98 civic lx (has pwr locks) and called a honda dealer to check the vin to see if it at one time had keyless entry. they told me no. I know that for the 96-98 the keyless entry was built into the radio. so my question is, If i can find a 96-98 at the junkyard that had keyless entry, could i take the radio and trasmitter and install it in my civic and have keyless entry?

second question: do all the 96-98 radios have the keyless built in? cause my dx hatch has the oem radio but has manual locks. if they all had the keyless built in i would take the radio from my hatch and put it in the lx right?

i know my 98 does, if you take the factory radio out to put in an aftermarket radio. you either lose your keyless entry, or have to keep the factory unit under the dash with power to it. thats how mine is set up.

i believe both the lx and the ex had the wiring; the ex came with the keyless. for me just buying the fob and programming the radio worked. so yes, if you get the radio off an lx or an ex, you should be fine.

you should get an aftermarket one they have pretty cheap ones that will come with an alarm and its def worth it since you do have one of the most stolen cars in the US.

I have an oem security module if you are interested. Should just screw to the top of your oem radio. PM me if you are!
