I just bought a 98 Civic LX Sedan from a person that wasn't into cars, and didn't take very good care of it. It came with a aftermarket radio and alarm, both of which were poorly installed. I managed to take out the aftermarket alarm, and all of the wiring seems to be intact, nothing was cut up too bad. Unfortunately the power locks no longer worked. I pulled out the radio and noticed it had a couple extra green plugs in the back that weren't plugged in to anything. I read somewhere that all 96-98 civics that came with power locks, also came with keyless entry, but you need the stock radio or something to get it to work correctly? How can I tell if I have key-less entry?

I just want my car to work correctly, it is my cheap daily.

Mostly answered your own question as what you read was correct about needing the stock radio in 96-98 to program keyless. Don't know if you need to KEEP it in there after programming though. 99-00 do not require the stock radio for programming.

And yes, it is equipped from the factory. Got my used factory key fob on ebay.

You need to get your power locks working first however, because them locking and unlocking is part of the programming procedure. You may have some luck on google for the steps required, but FSM is the best source. If I have time later, I'll type them up for future reference.
