i never heard of it called a "balance shaft" before.....learn somethin new every day!

The balance shafts are two pieces of rotating metal rods that are in the block of the motor to counteract the movement going on inside. They help smooth out the motor.

KaizenSpeed makes a "balance shaft eliminator" kit that has plugs to remove them completely or you can just remove the belt that "disables" them but the weight is still there - which is what I'm assuming the OP is wanting to do.

 

and what do you know them by? I cant think of hearing them called anything different.

 

well, considering the f22 is the only honda engine with them as far as i know, i guess nothing? i'm bowing out of this thread now....foot no taste good...sorry guys

 

whoops... all FWD F-series and H-series have them.
