Default Some of my "craftyness"

Boosting my F23 in a few months, and I've been trying to get as much of the "side" work done before the actual install. So far, I've made a manual boost controller, oil catch-can, and did my Boost and Oil Pressure gauge install. Didn't want to mount my gauges anywhere visible, and wanted them close to my line of site. This is what I came up with. Probably not the first, but the first I know of...

Boost in the left a/c vent, oil on the right. Since they are back-lit any time the car is on, I can easily read them day or night. Cut out a small section from the vent to angle them towards me. Here are the MBC and Catch-can.

FYI-Pretty cars don't go faster. My goal is a reliably boosted accord with 250whp for under $1,000 in upgrades. Maybe your $300 steering wheel will help you when you cry on it as I walk you in every gear.

Most turbos cost a large portion of what your cost is. Are you going to tune it? 5-10psi and all that timing advance??? I want to see you race. When you talk you most prove it, post a youtube vid when done.

??? The turbo is only $77 at the local junkyard. You can get quality rebuilt turbos for under $300. Of course I am going to have it dyno tuned. P28 on ectune most likely. What timing advance are you talking about? What will you know from a youtube vid? That I am going faster than traffic? It won't be too loud, except for the turbine whistle. 3" exhaust with resonator, pre-muffler, and oversized, chambered muffler at the rear. Sleeper, hold the rice.

Hey, if those gauges work for you, more power to ya! I'm down for new ideas on making a sleeper! I personally haven't seen them mounted IN the vents, just on them.

I'm in to see your results and what your setup consists of. These cheap turbo projects are always interesting to me because you ALWAYS see new ideas of how to make/run things. Some are good, some are bad...

Can ya post anymore info about some more of your setup?

I think he means to post a vid of you at the track. having a sleeper and posting a vid of you street racing is stupid. Keep that **** to the track where it belongs.

No I'm talking about street racing (aka fastlane2). Its safe if you know were the cops hang out. I'd never race in traffic, easy target. Also I'm not against the gauges. But if you can keep this cheap and do 5-6s 0-60, I'm impressed.

Also my might be better buying a ebay turbo manifold. I saw your manifold on another post, its made well but just won't flow well above 3k, i'm guessing. If your serious about winning manifolds are what can really kill or dish out some serious numbers when vtec kicks in.

Nice way to keep your boosted car a sleeper for sure.

What do they look like in the day time? Post up a pic if you have one.

Street race vid is pointless. With no point of reference, a slow run can look fast, and a fast run can look slow. This will NOT be a track car, just fun. I will however post a dyno sheet from the tuning.

Ebay mani = Fail. Log manifolds don't flow in top end, and ebay SS manis crack. I am building a sink trap off of my f23 cast mani for a top mount. If you saw that pic of one I posted on a different thread, mine will be very different. That on had about a 2" radius bend. Mine will be 3 or 4" radius. That will be no problem for EG velocities to stay up. And why spend $179 minimum on a mani that I can build for $50-60?

Will - Custom sinktrap top-mount mani, Holset hy35, ebay wastegate at 10-12psi, 2.5" I.D. tank truck hose(ok for vacuum and pressure) for I/C piping, ebay 28x7.5x13" I/C, DSM 1G BOV, DSM blue top 450's, Custom Home Depot copper oil lines, Custom MBC and Oil Catch Can, P28 ecu tuned with ectune, 3" downpipe, full 3" exhaust, custom test pipe(need cat for emissions), resonator, premuffler, oversized chambered muffler. BTW, anywhere it says custom, it means I'm building it. Exhaust too, except for bought mandrel bends.

to ingenuity.

I hope winter driving isn't too bad with those vents blocked, but still, it's pretty neat man. I was hoping to make a catch can soon, how well did that pvc piping go together for you? I was considering going with steel tubing with welds myself. Not sure...

I live in Houston. Summer is the problem here. It still blows cold and hard. PVC was very easy to get together. Also easy to drill for fittings. You should be able to get everything from Home Depot for under $25. Use 3 or 4" pipe if you can. I was limited as to where I could mount mine, so had to go with 2".

So what I have a 300$ steering wheel??
<< I am also TURBO.. 8 - 12psi daily, with QUALITY parts, built top end, full Skunk Suspension.. I would actually like to know where you get off saying you would walk me in every gear.. Let alone any gear over the interwebs. STFU

I gave you props for being creative..
IMO the work is just distastefull with the guages an such.. Get over it, you posted a thread looking for reactions.. You got one..
When you have completed your turbo setup post #s..

Yes I realize that they are back-lit. I was looking more for a drivers perspective of the gauges during the day. What is visable from teh drivers seat?

Your first pic looks as though it was taken during the night and 6"-12" from the console. Obviously that makes it easier to see a lit gauge. The second pic that you just posted is not realistic. Unless you drive with your face stuck in your vents...

Only on the hot days. I took the close up b/c it's a camera phone and resolution sux. But here is one from the driver's perspective.
