ok so i finally sold my wrx and i have money to get an S2000. Im looking for a 2005 or newer with less than 30,000 miles. I have found a couple in south florida near me but im curious as to what to look for when buying this type of car. I drove a very clean white one the other day and the car drove smooth from gear shifts and the paint was immaculate.
I have to go see a couple more this week but i want to know if you guys think its worth the extra money to buy a certified honda from a dealer, carmax, or a private seller. What should i be aware of when i go to see the car? other than the obvious like grinding or winding, and or a rebuilt title.
Also, alot of these cars are over priced, so when i find one for much cheaper im almost hesistant to go see it, because i feel something cant be this good and true....
Anyone selling one locally in South Florida...? i already checked autotrader, s2ki.com, honda-tech, autos.aol, etc...
Dream S2000 would be GPW with Red or red/black interior! and then slap on a Hardtop since in Miami, they rip these seats out like its going outta style...I have about $20,000 to spend and that is including a hardtop n install....
What you all think?

ok i found a GPW w/tan interior its a 2005 and it has 8,600 miles. The guy wants $22,700. Do you guys think that is pretty high for a 2005? i know the mileage is low and the car is mint, but damn that seems high. Give me your $0.02 please

Why are you set on an 05 or newer? The 04 is the same car as the 05 and as far as tuning purposes go, the 06+ have drive by wire, which some owners do not prefer. You can find a really low mileage 00-03 for around 12-14k and that leaves you with plenty of money for a hardtop or anything else.
I was in your boat back in September, and I was dead set on an 04-05. I ended up with an 02 with 65k on it and I love the car to death.
Just keep searching. A buddy of mine bought one 10 hours away and we took a greyhound bus to go pick it up. It was a 2000 with 26k miles and he got it for 12 grand. Great price if you ask me.
Also, check out the FAQ thread at the top of the page, it'll help answer a lot of your questions.

well i want an 05 or newer because im looking for less than 30,000 miles and that seems to be the right year for the mileage. I have seen older ones for better prices but my loan rate is already sky high (7.49%) for a 2005. So i dont want it any higher.
I am negotiating a GPW locally, but the guy is hard to budge. we will see how it goes. Also 2006+ can use the Flashpro because of the drive by...so that was a concern too. The flashpro seems alot easier than sending the ecu to get flashed once i do finally find one. But for a 2005 GPW i can do without the flash pro
Also, some of the dealers here in FL are saying the white hardtops are out of stock and its going to be nearly impossible to find one... anyone know how to grab a white OEM hardtop? i was searching the forums and i have not found one...

I bought my 04 GPW with 6K on it 3+ years ago for just under 25K. It was a bit more than some others at the time, but was mint, the color I wanted, and close by. Found it in Martin County, FL.
Hardtop found with the vehicle is a tough find - especially if you want something other than silver. The HT's still run over 2K I beleive. You also need to get seat locks for the seats if you EVER intentd on parking it outside in Miami, day or night. Just too many stories on s2ki.net of missing seats in S. FL. to take a chance. Search for the seat locks on that site once you get the car.
Here's mine- has 24K on it now, still runs like the day I got it.

Why are you so pressed to get under 30k exactly? What are you looking to spend? It sounds to me like you should be looking for 06 or newer myself.

Certified Pre-Owned is a waste. My 04 has 53K miles, and not one single problem. In fact I would not buy it from a dealer at all. Spending another $3,000 on taxes, dealer fees, and a warranty you will not use is a waste. You could use that money to buy a hardtop. This is the worst time of year to sell a convertible. You should be able to find a deal thru a private seller. I'm selling my car for $16K. You seem hung up on mileage though so I doubt you're interested.

Just pay what he wants and call it a day. If you want the car the price shouldn't matter as long as your not being raped on the price.
