Help! 04 Acura TL Trans problem!
I've got a 2004 acura tl non type s. I recently noticed that it would shift hard into 2nd. Today while I was driving the tranny would not shift in 2nd at all, it would skip it all together. Then when I came off a stop sign the tranny shifted hard into a gear. The "D" on the cluster started blinking it threw a CEL and the VSA light. Also the light with a triangle and a exlimation mark came on. When I turn the car off and then back on every light goes away but the CEL. I got the code for the CEL and it P0746
(Pressure Control Solenoid Performance or Stuck Off)
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to correct this problem. I drained the fluid and put new ATF in the tranny. What exactly is the PCS? Can I get to it without dropping the entire tranny? Is my tranny doomed? Please help! I've searched everywhere and have come up empty.

take it to the dealer and get ready for a possible trans replacement......there is not much that the acura dealers can do besides replace external stuff on the trans.
Hand held scanners will not pick up the codes for the transmission

Does the fluid look dark like dirty motor oil and smells burnt? It can be a simple solenoid that went bad or your tranny could be bad. If this vehicle is in Vin range of the 04 transmission recall and it is under 100k miles you maybe cover. Get your Acura dealer to do a Vin status check and they can help you with the warranty issue if it is under the recall.

Hey there, did you ever get this problem fixed? I've got a 2005 Accord V6 with 38,160 miles and have the same problem. I got it towed to a shop and they said it was P0746 code and want $2200 to get it fixed. I'm the original owner and have always took care of it. With this low miles, it doesn't sound right.
