Does anyone know how to tell the difference between the JDM 97 prelude and the USDM 97 Prelude?

 

by what side of the car the steering wheel is on. If you are just talking about the engine, you need to check the stamping on the engine block.

 

If you wanna know if car was made here in the U.S. Or overseas in japan, look at the VIN, if the first digit is a J, your car was manufactured in japan and shipped her. If the first digit is a 1, your car was manufactured here in the U.S.

 

I'm going with the steering wheel being on the opposite side.

 

right hand drive, motor stamp h22a without the 1 or 4. jdm sidemarkers, folding mirrors, digital climate controller. jdm list goes on.

 

K so my Vin starts with a J... But i think on the engine it says h22a4... is the engine jdm?

all preludes were manufactured in japan and shipped over here, so the VIN info doesn't tell you all that much. If you have an H22A4, that is the original USDM motor.

 

h22a is jdm if it has a number after the h22a its usdm

 

how is it not jdm if it was manufactured in japan?

 

each country gets different features and are built are pretty much the same despite some regulations here and there. all preludes were built in japan with the intent of some being shipped to the US and other countries.

 

so even though my car was built in Saitama, Japan its a USDM if it has a number after the h22a its a usdm? and where will it say the h22a# on the engine so i can know for sure?

 

on the block it will have the engine code stamped on it

 

ya its a h22a4... so its usdm... even though it was made in Saitama, Japan... i just dont see how its not jdm...

 

what does usdm stand for anyways>?

United States Domestic Market, i would say if it's not a RHD car made originally for the Japanese market then shipped personally to you from a personal/commerical source in Japan, it's not JDM...

Used to describe cars or automotive parts that are manufactured in/imported from the US.

 

How about right hand drive/?

 

Because it wasn't manufactured to be sold in the Japanese Domestic Market.
