Ok I just looked in my 96-00 civic Helms manual. And the colors are:
knock- Red-Blue ( at the ecu and at sensor)
For the rpm, your gonna have to go to the distributor (blue wire) or theres a rpm test connector at the drivers side firewall (corner). When you look in that corner (clutch fluid res area) you'll find a grey connector (not connected to anything) with a single blue wire going to it. You can tap into that for the rpm signal.
I'm looking on my helms book and the 99-00 ecu diagram shows a wire that has the rpm signal going to the ecu. But I checked every single wire on the 96-98 harness and none of them are labled rpm signal.

thanks hondadriver..... I got everything wired up and working except for rpm signal....are you positive theirs no rpm signal going into the cu...how about VSS signal....can I use that? Only reason I ask is cause i routed the rpm signal wire through the guage cluster, back behind the dash, and back out the rear of the glove box. Basically its gonna be a headache to get that wire back out and rerouted into the engine bay nearest the drivers side....
Its my own fault though for rushing things

I just read the haynes....yea I gotta tap that blue wire.....I'll tap it within the dash right before the cluster....to save me the trouble of routing the wire through the firewall. thanks
