Thinking real hard about selling my EM1 to grab an ITR
I've been struggling with this decision for the better part of 4 months now. I love my EM1 to death. I'm the original owner and it's the only car I've ever bought brand new. But I desperately want an ITR and when I bought the EM1 is what I was actually planning to buy at that time but couldn't swing the payments at that time on a new ITR.
Obviously this board will be biased but what do you guys think? The one thing I can't have is an original owner brand new ITR (although the 800 mile one come close lol but out of my price range).

No I won't. My EM1 hasn't been a daily for the last 7 years.
Well it's not an ITR first and foremost

To me the ITR is "THE" sport compact of our generation. It offers everything my Si does taken up to the next notch. It has an element of exclusivity and rareness that really appeals to me. Plus it's an allaround better performer.
Given your answers ^^.....just do it! You won't regret it. Since you're the original owner of your EM1...too bad you couldn't keep it and add the ITR to the garage (ie kick the wifey out)
I know I would love to keep both but can't justify having 2 of something that is so similar and do pretty much the same thing. BTW I already occupy all of our garage space as it is lol
Selling my 99 EM1 for an ITR was the best car buying decision I ever made. You already know about theft if you own an EM1 so just keep doing what your doing.
So you have no regrets? Was the insurance a big jump? I'll be honest, I haven't looked into that aspect. My insurance is pretty cheap. I have 3 cars, all with full coverage and 0 deductible and I pay under $120/mo. So that's a factor too.

Other than continuing theft concerns, no regrets at all. All positives. It's an upgrade at every level.
I was in almost the exact same position as you when I bought my ITR. I bought a brand new EBP Si in '00. I loved the car but the ITR is what I really wanted. I kept the Si and daily drove it for over 6 years before selling it and getting an SUV. When I could finally afford to have a third car and would not have to daily an ITR, I went out and bought one. It blows the Si away in every aspect, except maybe cabin/road noise! As long as you have a garage and don't have to DD it, I would say go for it.
keep the civic, its too OG to get rid of, I couldnt picture you without it. hype r is cool sittin in the garage but anxiety of theft will get to ya. i love my R btw.
You won't regret it. I sold a car I was inlove with ('98 Civic DX hatchback, bone stock) for $3500, needed the money to put towards an ITR I found, but was planning on using my Civic as a daily when I bought my R. I regreted it for a little while, but it feels great stepping into an ITR everyday to go to work, ect in. Although the car is garaged every night and whenever I'm home, I do plan on picking up another hatchback as a daily within the next few months. If it's the car of your dreams, and you find one that you just can't pass up, then go for it.
And that's signature material right there!
Be like Nike,...JUST DO IT!!! The feeling of driving an ITR is absolutely intoxicating. If you can afford it try to keep the EM1. GL to you.
exactly...and a super clean itr is gonna run in the 15k plus range. ****, i want 15g's for my car and isnt that clean and mint AT ALL..your car is clean as can be, and payed for. drop a few grand in the gn and call it a day. the gn is the real deal.
Considering you are the first owner you might be better off holding on to it. Their are SI EM1 fanatics out there the same their are ITR DC2 fanatics out there who will pay more money just to buy off original owner, such as me! In the future, it may be worth some nice money.
The GN, ummm I don't know. I like it an all but part of me is a little bored with it. Plus I don't want to dump any money into it b/c I'll never get my money back. If it was a nicer example maybe I'd feel different.
