Crank Pulley - Need Help
I am finally getting around to getting my 97 Prelude fixed after the crank pulley became loose. First it seems as though the pulley was never fully seated on the crank as there is about a half inch of play with it and the bolt will screw in about a half inch as well, but when trying to remove it it will stop at the same point each time. We are going to try using a larger imapac gun on it tonight, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas on how to get this bolt out.
Thanks

I had the crank pulley tool, but it did no good as the crank was no longer locking the pulley in place. Finally got the bolt which was cross threaded out or half of it anyway and found the key being level with the keyway that was all beat up. The tip of the crank was all sorts of messed up as well. Long story short we went ahead and pulled the motor and will start tearing it down tomorrow to replace the crankshaft, main, and rod bearings.
Had this happen myself, similar situation. Bolt snapped and crank pulley came off. Luckily didnt damage the head.
I rebuilt the motor, but the crank was still straight. And I managed to get the rest of the bolt out with an easyout.
Good luck.
I have heard this a LOT with prelude owners having the same issue recently. I think its gotten to the time where work has been done on the car, the shop doesnt bother replacing the bolt with a brand new one, and this happens.
