Protection after welding question
Hi,
I welded some seat belt mounts into my crx and was wondering is having surface rust okay or should I spray paint wherever the welding was done, if possible. In general should spray paint be applied anywhere welding was done.
Thank you for you time

Yeah i paint strip the area before welding, My welder isn't good enough to go through paint. But after welding on the back side of the welding spot, I know the paint behind it is burnt off. Not too sure if that's really a problem if its not going to go through a lot weather elements
Lets say there is no easy access to the other side, what should be done like for example in this picture of my welded in seat mount
you could spray the back of the pieces with a weldable primer before you started the job, also i would be a little concerned with the strength/durability of that seat mount, if that car was in a side collision, i could picture that mount being instantly torn off. not criticizing, just trying to look out from a saftey standpoint.
O safety is most definitely, I've done a couple of hours practice welding on sheet metal and random brackets, then cut them apart to see if it penetrated and took a couple of sledge hammer wacks to see if they break. Im not pretty sure if that proves anythin lol. Advice are welcome!!
Thanks for the feed back
