Hey Guys,

Ive been having a weird problem lately. I searched but couldnt find exactly what Im looking for. OK so, I noticed this while driving today. While shifting my dash lights would actually get brighter. Also, while idling and I try to roll the windows up or down, my RPMs drop to about 4-500, and if I try to do both windows at the same time, they start to crawl and the whole car kinda shakes, and the rpms drop real low. I havent done any test on the car yet. It drives and no codes come up or anything. I figure Id ask here before taking things apart again lol. Thanks guys :D

 

check the voltage of the batt while the vehicle is running. is the battery light on on the dash while the car is running? ur alternator may be going out.

 

Ill check the batt volt when running. And no there are no lights indicating any probs other than the lights just dimming. The Batt Light does not come on.

 

Anyone else? Bump...

 

it could be the pulleys--do you have aftermarket?

I only ask because i have the "same" problem when i changed to AEM trupower pulleys. I did a lot of research and it does say that is a negative side effect. when i'm idling, the headlights and interior lights are low/dim, but once i start to drive (get the rpms up), everything 'wakes up' as in, headlights get brighter and interior lights (dash and tachometer) brighten up--all without touching the interior dimmer.

and windows up/down are fairly slow if i'm idling, but when i'm cruising (again, rpm's going) they are much faster.

 

No motor is completely stock. And ya, when idling everything kinda sucks lol. But when cruising or even during warm up when the rpms are up, Everything is ok.

 

Cmon guys help me out here. :D

if the lights are dimming id suggest either u clean the terminals of the battery or go grab a new battery from orielys or autozone i cant remember the brand but they have blue top red top and yellow top batterys get the yellowtop its definetly worth it they are manufactured better then normal batterys and also last longer. when my lights were dimming i went and got a yellowtop and cleaned the terminals and the problem was solved. even if your battery is new it could possibly just be a **** battery that doesnt put out much volts when your using multipal accesories but the yellowtop will handle all that and not drop ur rpms nor shake your vehicle give it a whirl

 

Before changing out the batt, is it possible that my connections to my battery could be bad? I ask this because with both pos and neg tightened all the way down, I can still rotate them on the batt posts. Thanks for all the suggestions, Im looking at them one by one and seeing if there are anyother probs that might be contributing. Thanks :D

 

go to A-zone and have the battery and alternator checked, i would replace those terminals while you're there

 

take car to autozone and have them hook up the car and test the voltage and they will tell u what is bad either ur terminals,altenator, or even battery

 

Ok so I checked the voltage while it was idling after driving it, and it was at a steady 14.23 volts. Im gonna check it in a little bit again to see where the battery stays at. Im thinking it isnt the alt.

 

Alright looks like it might be the Batt. Just checked the voltage levels on it and its at 12.2, So its not holding a full charge anymore. Thanks for the recommendations guys. :D
