Default Where to set the 2-step clutch switch relative to engagement?

For staging, and for preloading to be less prone to axle breaking, is it beneficial to have the 2-step switch adjusted so that you can engage the clutch a tiny bit without shutting off the 2-step?

Right now I have mine set so that just BEFORE clutch engagement, the 2-step comes off. In other words, I can't move the car without disengaging the 2-step. I'm thinking that is not the most ideal way to have it set for staging and for launching without shocking the axles?

Thoughts/advice?

i set my 2 step (antilag) to come off activated by the vss through s300.

old setup was an msd 2 step with the ground from the ebrake triggering. so while i had a grip on the ebrake handle, the 2 step would be on.

both my setups have nothing to do with clutch engagement.

if you have an ems that has launch control settings, you can set up the 2 step or antilag to come on at x% throttle and xxxx rpm. then set it to go off at say 2mph on the vss. that way, when you let the clutch out, the ecu sees the tires moving via the vss, and voila, 2 step is off.

I'm running MegaSquirt 3 right now, and I have the launch control working. I was just trying to logically figure out where is best to set the switch (clutch switch) in terms of the engagement point. Figured there are plenty of people on here who have it very well figured out by now, so I might as well just ask instead of reinventing the wheel.

EDIT: I was typing while boostedcivicsir was posting I guess! We currently don't have VSS setup as an option for canceling launch, but that is something we could do after the expander boards are out since that is where the VSS input is.

Thanks for the ideas!

i can tell you this from my exp. clutch switches (in my case are bad) i rest my foot on the pedal and sometimes short stroke the pedal. so, if it is at the top, i wont hit it, and if it is at the bottom, i definately wont hit it.

if you are asking about a clutch switch, the ebrake is a good way to go. you know it will go off, when it drops. i think nasteboyii is using line locks instead of the ebrake and at a time i think he had the 2 step wired in with the line locks.

My decade old setup was the E-brake. It worked great back in the day and very simple.

Tjabo, I run ebrake and clutch switches in parallel for that very reason. Both are on at the line and it disables when I'm off the clutch AND off the ebrake.

I think I mentioned vss based launch disable to James already but if you need it, bring it up again!
