Default ★ Project Knight: Toyota Supra◈ Forged motor◈ 1000RWHP◈ Do-luck◈ HKS◈ Trial◈ 250 pics

Start up video of completed project:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmj56s8hOIs

The car was purchased March of 2008. It was advertised as mechanically sound, and no expenses spared.Instead of going on, I'll add comentary to relevant pictures to keep from boring everyone with a wall of text. If you'd like to read, I'll have more information after all the pictures.

The car began to over heat which I found odd since at the time the Arizona weather was cooler than Florida where I picked it up from. I replaced the hood with the Seibon CF hood to try to compensate.

The hood helped a little but not enough air was getting into the intercooler and radiator. The Whifbitz bumper I had for my old car was then added with Bomex sideskirts to even out the look.

This is where the engine started at.Compression numbers were a little low for the type of build but they were even across the board.I quickly began correcting some issues.

The engine wasn't responding how I wanted it to. I assumed it was the manifold so we began fabricating my old Virtualworks manifold up to fit the GTE.

The car was still running hot so I went with a 16 row GReddy oil cooler...

I brought my GReddy TI exhaust to Midas to have it installed. They hacked off the muffler tip and tried welding titanium to steel. Trashe dboth exhaust systems. This was our attempt to salvage what was left.

Only 600 miles had been put on the car since I purchased it and it started showing symptoms of crank walk, except they were far worse so everyone thought it had to be something else. The crank was in fact walking. The motor pull out and tear down began

The motor was immediately brought to RPM Engine development for analysis. I hadn't abused the car and the clutch switch was disabled. The crank shaft was CRACKED in two places. One crack was around the circumfrence and the other was actually horizontal which out of 30 years of experience no one there had ever seen before. It turns out whoever built the motor installed #5 backwards and it thew off the bearing cleance and balance of the assembly causing inevitable failure which no one can refute. Yet it was somehow my fault and the previous owner took no responsibility.

This was the only block I had left. A rusting stock GE from a Lexus. In my opinion this is the most amazing part of the build. Note the engine mounts.

Pulled off the engine brackets from the Supra motor and got some PHR solid mounts

Check out the NA-T style oil feed.

To make it a true wide body al cut out the stock quarter panels

I wanted a more sleek look. The second vent wasn't doing it for me.

My roof came loose over time and I lost it while trailering the car. A member here sold me a new one and said it had no dents and was perfect. It had 6 dents and the molding was beat to ****. Had to be smoothed.

This is what was under the carpet. Wasn't even a box, just a piece of wood silicones and drilled through the chasis.. wasnt even sealed. Good thing the system failed because we realized the car almost caught on fire...

Custom cage from my last one.

Al checking the measurements

Used the targa mounts for the box.

No more fire hazard!

Have to refabricate the intercooler piping since I changed the intercooler. Redoing my CAI while I'm at it since I had extra pipe laying around.

There aren't enough words to propperly thank the following people. They all played a role in getting the car to its current state and without them I don't know where I'd be.

-Al Robinson
Al helped me take the image of my perfect car and turn it into a reality. He spent many days at my house and in various shops helping to get this thing where it is now. The car couldn't have been done without his audio and fiberglass knowledge.

-Marty and Larry @ RPM Engine Development
There were a bit of things I couldn't do to the motor myself. Marty has been doing engines before I was even born and RPM did a flawless job on my last motor. Teamed with Larry they helped build the bad *** engine you see before you.

-Ken Henderson
A man who needs no introduction. Ken's willingness to help others is hard to match. Without his knowledge and information on the Do-Luck pieces I would probably still be on a stock body.

-Dusty Womack
Another man that needs no introduction. If you like any of the parts you see in the car that aren't custom fabbed, Dusty will be able to get them for you.

-Kevin Calvert
Kevin's bad-assness is OVER NINE THOUSAND!

-My father
This one is a given. My dad's years of engineer experience and willingness to help install/uninstall parts helped greatly.

-Marty @ Marden Electric
Mary is the primary welder of this build. His air plane building experience allows him to get things done perfectly When him and my dad get together theres no telling what parts can be fabricated

-Tony and the guys @ UMS Tuning
They were able to get my relays set up and dialed the car in on the dyno before the engine failed completely.

-Ryan Oster
Ryan's been around since day one. Always been at my house helping wrench on the motor.

-Doyal Madsen
Doyal playe d ahuge roll in the motor pull and install of the last supra, and helped a bit with the removal of this one.

-Jimmy @ Azartwork

-Alek Heit
Alek has helped a bit on my other cars and was around for some of the motor install. He was the one who convinced me to pick up the ridox fenders which really complete the car.

-Dennie Oppenheim
Dennie has recently helped to inspire me to get the car done but to do it right and exactly how i dreamed it. She reminded me that there is always a brighter side to things and to stay focused.

-Chad Bendel
Chad is my parts guy at Power Toyota. He's been working there since I worked there. He's put up with a lot of headaches getting these cars done and I'm not sure if any other parts manager would do the same.

-Jason Escobar
Without Jason I probably wouldn't have placed at HIN. His constructive criticism has helped me push the car to its full potentiel

-Andrew Lim
If Andrew didn't have a spare set of the Ridox Fenders I'd still be waitin for them form Japan.

-Carlos (TOYMR2TRD)
I just gotta mention Carlos lol. His supra is as bad *** as mine.

The evolution of this final version has been going on since I purchased my first Supra in 2002.. You might notice some aspects of every previous build in one another. I guess you can consider them prototypes to this one.

You'll notice the 94 veilside is missing,I didn't pick that body kit and hated it so I left it off.

I learned a lot in the RSP Trial build. When it caught fire it was one of the shittiest days of my life. I really saw no up side to it and I was just about done with supras but they have been my dream car when I first saw one in the summer of 1994. I bought this one not planning on having to touch the motor and I was going to respray it in the factory RR and be done with it, but then things started breaking left and right.

After fixing so many things the feeling I had when building the Trial supra came back. I began taking everything I learned and started designing the new one to top the last. Months passed as I was trying to figure out how I was gonna build the thing then I started "phase one" which was the red "version" I kept the car red to begin with because I just wanted it to look good inbetween but black was the plan from the start.

Right before the car went in for body work the motor failed. I was pissed lol. The majority of the money I had aside to fix the body was going to have to go to the new motor. I contacted the previous owner with a list of everything that had broken on the car since purchase including the sound system, the line lock, the emergency brake, the AEM, frayed wires. bad valves, bad cams, damaged head, etc etc etc. All he had to say was "there was nothing wrong with the car when i sold it to you" Theres no way he didn't notice a single issue. It simply isn't possible.

Knowing I was stuck with the bill, and no one to take responsibility for their own **** ups I had to put finishing the interior and body on hold. At least it gave me a chance to have another motor built that I knew wouldnt blow up on me. Took a bit of planning on what internals then everything started. Sold everything I could and got loans everywhere i could then aking things I liked off each of the previous cars and adding new things like the Ridox fenders, there was nothing else holding back the exterior build.

The plan for the sideskirts were changed multiple times. I was going to go with Trial again but they sat too low, then I looked at modified do-luck but they didn't blend well with the Trial rear. Either one could have been modified to work but it would have been a pain in the *** and I always liked the sideskirts on my first supra and decided to go with those.

Most people didn't realize that the Trial supra was widened. Fiberglass was laid onto the panel but when it was all done you couldn't tell that it was wider so the line from the panel was connected to the sideskirt

I looked at both Ridox and Veilside rear quarter panel pieces but the do-luck pieces could continue the line I had on the Trial Supra so I went with them

Then a few other things were carried over like the rear bumper, the seats, roll cage, and some other things. You can see that each car has little pieces of each one before it. With all the past experiences I have finally come to a version which I believe has outdone each one before. I really don't think theres anything I could have improved on.

Thanks man. It's not done yet though, if you notice the pictures cut off, they are in order. The red pictures aren't it finished. I just like keeping my car looking nice even between building it.

I wasn't much of a fan of systems either but the goal with this one was sound quality and factory look.

Not yet, the motor is still out and the body work isnt 100% done yet, its ready for paint now though.

Hmm, some of the pictures are less than a week old and you can probably tell from the pictures cutting off it isn't done either. It's been going on for almost a year and a half though. I think I posted some pictures of the car from HIN up as well as some of the sound system build around March, that might be why it looks familiar?

Now you lost me. Pictures of my sound system from almost a year ago? Same car, different work and mods being done. Entirely different thread and content.

Is Vicious the Snowfox? If so then it would explain why the pics in this thread are the same ones from this thread.

Really? Less than a week old?

I KNOW with 100% certainty I've seen this car, this build before

*edit*

Same day listed for birthday as the Snowfox guy - who the **** knows what's going on. I don't think you'd magically forget your password and password to your email address (to recover) within a few months.

I think you may be confused with my old car. It had the same rear bumper.

They aren't the same car.

I forgot the password to the Snowfox name and the forgot password feature wasn't working for about a week so I made this name, which I like better since it's less confusing because it's what I go by on Supraforums.

Those rear rims and tires are nuts. I could do without the system but with that much power it would prolly help traction..
