help dent on trim piece

Icon2 help dent on trim piece

i came out to my car today and saw that someone door checked my car, luckily it hit the plastic trim instead of my door,but i still want to get it out. i know a heat gun is supposed to work. i dont really want to pop the trim off so i was wondering if anyone had any secrets to get it out. all help will be much appreciated

You can use a heat gun but dont let it melt the plastic, just soften it a little. Push the dent out from the back while you spray cold water on the area to cool it in its original position. A dolly works well to press against the hot plastic. Unless you can reach the back side of the dent, you'll have to remove the panel.
