Default 90 civic need help please

I have a 90 honda civic 1.5 i pulled the engine to put a new transmission in it. Everything went well but when i went to start the car nothing happened. So i went to get a new starter and the same thing happened. I went to check the fuses and they were all fine. I put the test light on the starter and it showed that it had power. Also, I checked the ignition it has power up to the fuse box but some where in between the starter and the ignition there is no power. What should i do next.

Thanks

well first of all what exactly is it doing when you turn the key? one click? multiple clicks? turning but not firing?

secondly did you make sure all of your wires were plugged back in and all your grounds are good?

Make sure you have a solid ground attached to your engine block

when i turn the key no click all the wires are pluged in ground is good i cheated by making a jumper wire from the ignition to the starter. when i did that i turned the key i got one click. so whats next......

is the batter charged? are the terminals connected tightly?

dude seriously there are sooo many things that could be going on. you need to give us a check list of what you have done/not done.

-battery
-connections
-grounds

are these all testest and functional?

sorry i am new to this. Battery termanials are tightly fastened and its fully charged.
What I did:
pulled out motor
replaced the tranny
hooked up all the wires to proper areas.
replaced the starter.
checked starter for power
checked all grounds(their good)
checked fuses(their good)
checked the ignition for power(thats good and that was with the jumper wire i was talking about earlier.)
do you think i possibly burned of the fuse links? or is it something else?

check main battery fuse under the hood in the fuse box, its yellow i think a 60amp. also your main relay can be faulty. best way to test is turn ur key on to the acc position, you should hear clicking coming from the fuse panel area under the dash. turn the key off and you should hear some more clicking. IF you dont hear these, then you got a bad main relay.

is your ground wire hooked up to the trans? the wire on the negative side of the battery should be attatched to the framerail then grounding the trans on top with a 10 mm bolt.

Make sure your ground is on the thermostat housing. With this not hooked up you will have nightmares.

Also If you jump the + wire on the starter to the signal wire you dont get anything"? Or it just clicks once everytime you touch it?

Things in control of cranking over the starter (assuming its not at all)

Battery:
check voltage levels: requires reconditioning/replacement of battery...common problem spot

Chassis ground:
check for continuity between chassis ground and negative battery terminal: requires cleaning of battery terminals, tightening on connection nodes, etc... common problem spot

Engine ground:
check for continuity between negative battery terminal and engine block: requires tightening of connection terminals, solidifying connections, etc... common problem spot

Clutch switch:
check for contact closure to ground while clutch is pressed: requires examination of wires, confirming proper switch position/actuation capabilities, etc... rare issue

Ignition switch:
check for voltage levels at each ignition switch position (with each directional swing): requires replacement... uncommon issue (?)

Starter cut relay (clutch switch controlled):
check for relay actuation with clutch pressed and key turned: requires replacement... uncommon issue (?)

Starter solenoid wire "trigger":
check for +12v on starter actuator wire (and be sure it is connected appropriately): requires reconditioning of terminal, re-examination of probable 'upstream' causes (such as clutch switch, chassis, etc), examination of continuity... commonly, its just loose.

Starter solenoid:
check for actuation of starter solenoid during crank key position (*click): requires reconditioning of solenoid, replacement, etc.

Starter motor power wire:
check for +12 volts at the motor power node: uhhh, I think most times this is internal between the solenoid and starter motor ?.

Security anti-theft cutout components:
check for appropriate actuation control of the anti-theft system relays: requires replacement, more following of anti-theft system wiring, etc.... unknown commonality

Automatic transmission gear position switch:
fill in the blank

Starter motor:
Check for humming while ignition in the start position: if the engine has an extreme load, or the motor is faulty (i.e. the commutators are worn badly and such) it may require replacement... uncommon issue

ECU:
Check for correct ecu control (yeah, I know, vague as hell): often, socketing/chip jobs can be botched in such a way (i.e. an address pin of the ROM chip be pulled) where the ecu will cut all capabilities and such (?)... unlikely, but possible(?)

=> no crank

I tried to place them in an appropriate order of troubleshooting and may have missed a few. If anyone knows to add something I missed, please do so so I can update for future assistance (I'm sure I can't remember all the details involved). I also tried to make it as generic as possible. Note: my judgment of commonality is solely based on my experience, others may differ greatly...

For GSR, order should be as follows: ignition switch, security starter cut relay (95-97), AT gear position switch OR starter cut relay, clutch control switch, security starter cut relay, starter solenoid (94,98), starter motor

Good luck!

You are hearing a click coming from the starter solenoid and it still isn't turning over?

If I read that right, then the problem seems to me to be either: bad starter-motor/bad starter-solenoid internal contacts, bad engine ground (not allowing the starter motor to actuate), bad starter power wire (possibly corroded terminals not allowing enough current through), not high enough battery voltage

Reasoning, if you hear the click of the starter solenoid actuating when you hit the trigger wire with +12, then you know that the starter solenoid is actuating. When the starter-solenoid actuates, it shifts a plunger style contact to connect with +12 (big power cable) allowing the starter motor supply power. The only thing left that the starter motor needs is a good ground source to build the internal electro-magnetic field.

If my assumptions were wrong then...

With a GSR engine, the order of operations is as follows: +battery wire going through the electrical load detector (fusebox), through the ignition fuse, through the ignition switch, through the A/T gear position switch where park and neutral are shorted together (center switch lever?), to actuate the starter solenoid. Most of all those wires are Black/white, White/black, or Black/yellow in color. You just need to chase the electrons, lol

This is all in the assumption that you have no crank (it is not turning over). I was also assuming you don't have an stock anti-theft device. Correct any assumptions I may have made.

EDIT: another thing that occurs to me is, is it possible that you gasket/sealed the starter motor... It requires good solid contact with the engine for appropriate chassis ground to actuate. Someone else stated that the transmission ground needs ran as well.

is this an auto trans? check your torque converter or flexplate
