zc strang acceleration VIDEO!
check it out, this is not normal and my revving will fluctuate unless i smash on the gas pedal. i have no idea why this is happening on a new swap, im using my old IM and TB and i've never experience this problem.

turns out the part im talking about is called the dashpot diaphram, check the pics to see the vac lines. its purpose is to control the TB to "smooth" out the idle, basically letting NOT letting the TB slam shut if you lift your foot off the gas quickly. Mine seems to be malfunctioning since while accelerating, its gently moving the TB around. even when i remove the vac line 6, its still moving the TB erratically. i think im gonna have to use the TB on my zc IM and see if that fixed the problem. .

i had a problem similar, the dashpot was acutally stuck. changed the TB, problem solved. you could also change the dashpot control colenoid valve to start, could just be clogged up. I have pulled mine before and cleaned it to clean up a drifting idle. just a couple things for you to check...
i unplugged the vac line and the problem still exists. i think its the dashpot diaphram itself. my zc intake mani has a TB attached to it but it doesnt have a dashpot for some reason, unless i just over looked it but whatever. i'll sort this out when i get home.
why not just post this in the thread you already have open Steve? I have a feeling that the ZC TB will not fit. The a6 is the only TB that differs from all the 88-00 TB's. Disconnect the dashpot from the butterfly valve, and see what happens.
i know i can run without a dashpot, but i run the risk of drastic rpm drops that will kill the car. i honestly dont know how the dashpot itself could have gotten broken.

i removed my dashpot diaphram last nite, well the little lever connected to the manual throttle thing is still attached and it still fluctuates all crazy even when no vaccuum is going to it.
i have to see how to completely remove the little lever along with the dashpot diaphram. i could possibly use the zc throttle body "spindle" thing which has the thumb lever to rev...sorry i dont knwo what its called!

i removed the COVER for the dashpot...so if i remove the two phillips heads off the top of the TB, the ENTIRE dashpot will come off? even the little actuator arm? thats connected to the manual throttle pulley thing tho.
my tb only has the spring on it now
I took my dashpot off a while ago
yes takeing off the 2 screws will take off the dashpot and if you wonna take off the actuator arm you just have to take off the bolt where the arm is connected
but make sure you only take off the arm, leave all the washers and matel tube that are in there, there or else your cable is going to be wobbly

ohh alright, i responded before you edited ur post haha. i'll do that tonite, that **** better work because i dont even have the vac lines attached, took the dashpot cover off, and it STILL moves on its own but nothing is controlling it!
by the way i only have a map sensor and dashpot solenoid, shouldnt i have a purge sensor too?
